"Lying to your parents is usually the right thing to do, but there is an impending-death exception."

My parents depress me. Why do I have to be such a horribly inadequate daughter?

I accidentally overdrew my account by about two hundred dollars, and Graham managed to misdirect my paycheck, so if I'm lucky it'll arrive on Saturday; if I'm not, I won't get it 'til the middle of next week. And my savings are completely depleted, so no recourse there. Anyway, Mum and Dad found a way to save my ass from BofA's obscene bounced-check fees, and I now feel like I ought to swear eternal servitude or something to make up for it.

This is why I GOT a job again in the first place: so I wouldn't have to beg for yet another loan. Ugh. This is humiliating.
