'Tell me am I right to think there could be nothing better...'

...than eating sushi and reading Georgette Heyer. That was my lunch today. It amused me.

Best. House icon. Ever.

In other news, it is hot here. Disgustingly so. I know most of you just experienced the same heat wave that is now plaguing the East Coast, but at least you had no humidity. I went running with Heather at five o'clock yesterday morning. It was eighty degrees outside and suffocatingly humid. And when I got home yesterday evening, I almost collapsed in the cool relief of my flat. Then I looked at my thermostat: eighty degrees indoors. You know things are bad when eighty degrees feels nice.

I babysat my evil demon child ex-tutee on Monday. Ex because our summer tutorial session has officially come to an end, thank goodness. I enjoyed the extra cash, but that child has issues. She was fine for most of the evening, until bedtime arrived. Apparently, bedtime is her arch-nemesis. Her parents have a hard time making her go to bed, and I was just the tutor/babysitter. She refused. She's scared of the dark, so every light on the second floor had to be on. She can't fall asleep alone, so I had to read her a story. And then another. And sit with her and talk to her and rub her back. Then she wet herself. Three times. Then she insisted on drawing in her sketchbook by the light of a flashlight. And so on. By the time her parents got home, an hour and a half after Miracle should have been in bed, I was going crazy.

Finally finished As I Lay Dying last night. And there was jubilation and great rejoicing throughout Pua's mind and body. What a horrible little story it was.

Have you heard about this development in the working world? I've heard it mentioned briefly, but never before seen any in-depth articles on it. I find it mildly dismaying.
