the stars go waltzing out in blue and red

There's a particular sort of music that I like a lot and can't seem ever to find enough of: music with fantasy landscapes. I get very visual with my music, and I love scenic music, something that through a combination of lyrics, melody, and instrumentation paints a whole world in my head, particularly a world that extends outside of my mostly- ( Read more... )

Yeah, about that...I actually have been thinking about it a bit, which translates to wavering between obsessively hunting down songs and then forgetting about it entirely and back. ;p So...yes. I found a few Imogen Heap songs that might work okay ("Headlock," "Embers of Love," and "Missing You," I think) and then there's this group called Metric that a friend of mine likes--heard it some on the D.C. trip, and it's definitely sort of...techno/electronica, I guess. Whatever the case, I think I got a couple that might work: "Love Is Place," "Ending Start," and possibly "Empty" (I have it, and I don't remember if I got it for the mix or if I just have it randomly, and I'm too lazy at the moment to check lyrics). I can upload any of those for you that you don't have, although you might still be able to get most of them off my teh_music request.

And then there has to be some Explosions in the Sky, because they're essential to every fanmix I make, or something, and um...drat, there was another electronica group I was thinking of that would be good, and now I can't remember. I guess Patrick Wolf is a little bit electronica. Can't think of any lyrics offhand that would be good, but you might look.

Heh, well, that's the attitude I essentially adopt towards all of my mixes. :p Which is likely the reason I've got, erm, possibly around ten or more mixes in various stages of production, none of said stages being the stage 'finished'. (Especially because I have several playlists with one or two or no songs on them because I suddenly thought, 'hey, I know what would make for a fantastic mix!' or 'hmm, this song sounds an awful lot like [insert character, couple, or situation here]!')

Anyway, downloading the Metric & Imogen Heap in your post -- I don't have any of those Imogen Heap songs, actually. I'll look over Patrick Wolf, and, um. There ought to be something else, but my mind is very blank. THERE SHOULD BE AN ELECTRONICA LOVE SONG WITH A HARP IN. Shush, I can dream, can't I? And Explosions in the Sky is good. I do need to get more of that from Rita, eventually, but I am currently too busy listening to the Amelie soundtrack (yay, accordions and typewriters!). :D Would any of that spiffing Japanese stuff like the song you gave me work? (I never mentioned how much I liked those songs you uploaded, did I? AZURE RAY WITH MUSIC BOXY NOISES, YAY. :D)

Plagues. Why did my mind suddenly suggest that a Tel Tellai mix would be an excellent idea? AAAGH. *has not recently developed a moderately fangirly crush on Tel, oh no*
