And I Thought I Was Over Protective

I'm sure that the daycare ladies are having a good laugh at us. On Friday, Justin came home with an accident report. It seems that one of the other infants hit him near the eye with a toy. It was a little red, but nothing to worry about and you couldn't see anything at all by Sunday.

However, the Director wanted to be sure I had a copy of the accident report. I turned it down because it's really not a big deal to me. Accidents will happen and that was so minor that Justin wasn't even fussy about it.

Yesterday DH called me while I was driving home to tell me that Justin was screaming every time he peed. He thought that the daycare may not have been following some instructions. Images of my little baby in pain and screaming really got to me so I wound up calling a friend who works in the infant room there. She said that to her knowledge everything was all right and gave me some suggestions as to what might be the cause.

I got home armed with a plan to find a slightly fussy baby. He nursed like he hadn't been fed in days, although DH had tried to give him a bottle and fell asleep in my arms. He slept like that all evening but would wake up the minute I tried to put him down or to the side so I could get something done. He just wanted to be held and loved--and I was okay with that.

So today at daycare I explained the situation and apologized profusely for my anxiety. Then when I went to nurse later, Justin decided he wasn't interested. The minute I tried to get him into a nursing position, he would cry. He hadn't eaten for a couple of hours and everything else seemed fine--he just didn't want to eat. They told me that he didn't take the bottle easily earlier either and that he'd been just a bit out of sorts all day.

I'm really not worried. I'm sure he'll eat this afternoon. I'm back on the acidiphilus supplements in case this is an early case of thrush, but I don't think this is a huge cause for concern.

In other news, I'm working from home and trying to make peach ice cream at the same time. Wish me luck!
