We spent Father's Day at home in the morning. DH spent time out in the garage after I made breakfast. We went to his parents in the afternoon and then stopped by my mom's in the evening. My dad didn't want us to do anything for him, so I called and wound up leaving a message.
It's been a strange day. Justin slept for 7 hours last night. He was up all morning and semi-fussy. His cry was weak and he didn't want to nurse. It seemed like he wanted to nod off but kept fighting it. He also kept trying to suck on a wide variety of things, so I decided to try a pacifier. He loved it. It took him a long time to nod off, but he wasn't fussy anymore--apparently, he needed to suck and since he can't find his thumb yet or get his hand in his mouth, this worked. I'm ambivalent about the pacifier--I'm very worried about it getting overused, but he's so much happier today than he has been in a long time.
That being said, he's slept all afternoon. The longest that he's nursed today has been 8 minutes. He did nurse a lot yesterday and it's hot and humid today, so that could explain it, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on him. I've been pretty lethargic too so I suspect it's the weather. And when I say he's slept, he's only been sleeping when I hold him or have him right next to me. If I put him in his bassinet or the pack n play, he wakes up within 10 minutes. So I haven't gotten a whole lot done. That's okay though, there wasn't much that absolutely needed to get done today and since I've only got one week left before I go back to work, I don't mind spoiling both of us a bit.
