summer solstice
longest day of the year. had a really nice night, matt's cousin Gareth and his friend Ben are here visiting from England, start of their gap year, touring the world.
we drove them up to old forge, and were listening to my james taylor cd, when his carolina song came on. i just sat there, driving, with tears streaming down my face, hoping no one would see me cry. "going to carolina in my mind"
i miss justin and katie and beth so much. i work really hard at compartmentalizing that pain, and keeping it stuffed where i don't have to touch it or look at it, but some times it just wells up so suddenly, so tangibly, there's nothing to do with it but let it out.
