The Great Purge of 2008 (or "Hello Ebay!")

Dec 11, 2008 21:52

So, I dig stuff and things. A lot. This should be no secret to anyone who has ever interacted with me....at all. What could possibly make stuff and things better? Why, if they are discounted, on clearance, or Allah help me, free. Man, I love me some free stuff and things. However, an inevitable side effect of this is that I end up with items that I have absolutely no use for or interest in. For the past couple of years, I have simply tossed these bits and pieces into a box to put on Ebay. When asked WHEN I was going to be doing this, I'd wave my hand nebulously and said "When I get around to it." Well, last week, I went down to my storage unit in the basement to get something or other and, in moving things around to find said something or other, I realized with a shock that the "box for Ebay" had grown to 4 boxes, 2 trash bags and some over flow. And this excess was taking up about half the storage space. Valuable space that could be storing MORE STUFF AND THINGS. Stuff and things space being taken up by unwanted items? Unacceptable, sir!

So, I dragged everything up to my living room and started taking pictures. (Massive thanks to khallis for the loan of his camera and later, his mad picture processing skills.) Several days later I finished, and started writing descriptions. Several days later I finished, and started putting parts of both of those together into auctions. Several days later, I finished (I never said math was my strong suit, people.). YAY FINISHED!

Final total? 172 auctions. One hundred and seventy fucking two. ::facepalm:: 11 of those have finished via "Buy It Now" so I've got 161 currently active.

And there is such a bizarre range of items up there. Yes, I admit, a large number of them caused me to say "WHY THE FUCK do I have this?!?!?" as I was going through the boxes. I can offer no explanation other than "stuff" and "things." Tons of Christmas ornaments and decorations (including a strange number from Alaska. No clue on that one), sports equipment (including a brand new with tags Manchester United jersey and brand new baseball glove), rubber stamps, home decor, kitchen items, clothes (of all sizes, from XS to 20 - some were mine, some I just ended up with somehow - and all types, casual, evening gowns, career slacks, clubbing, dresses, jeans, tops, shorts, skirts, lingerie, and the most obnoxious orange "Hello Titty" t-shirt. No, that is not a typo), a Flaming Angels velvet purse, and yes, even some shoes. A lot of the stuff is brand new, and what isn't is in great condition. It just doesn't belong with ME.

So, if you are feeling like a bargain, check it out. I started everything at .99 with no reserve. Member name is Aramada (shocking), or just click the link: http://tinyurl.com/5aqyu7 If you're local and the sight of you doesn't make me want to kick you until you bleed, we can work out waiving the shipping costs and doing a local pickup.

::smiles:: I'm just glad it's going away. And making room. For stuff. And things.
