(Short and sweet, because I have to be up obnoxiously early tomorrow)
So President Obama has said many things in the past four years, and people have paid varying levels of attention to them. But he said one thing in particular that I think is interesting:
"Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way
that Richard Nixon did not, and a way that Bill Clinton did not.”
I mostly agree with this, at least in terms of how public welfare and American culture interface--though President Clinton did permanently "end welfare as we know it" in order to fulfill a campaign promise, of all things (but that's another post).
I am curious, however, whether other people agree with President Obama, and also why I found this quote in an article entitled "10 Quotes that Haunt President Obama." Why is it such a problem to say that Reagan changed the course of American politics?
