I'm hearing distant thunder-rumbles. Yay for a storm, boo for needing to go to the bank. Currently I am working on my notecard's for this evenings oral defense, where I will discuss my research proposal in front of the professor, who already knows the whole thing, and my classmates. It's not really a big deal, and no one's been asking really hard questions.

I think I put one person on the spot, last week though. Her research proposal focused on increasing nutrition through an educational program. it was kind of weird...in that, parents of the experimental group also received educaiton, but they were not measured at all. Lots of openings for confounding variables. But that's not the weird part. She selected AGAINST students who were receiving free/reduced lunch. When I asked her why, she said she did not include those students ebcause they were more likely to be obese. Well, yes...but isn't that PRECISELY WHY they should be included in the study? To increase their (and their parents) education about nutrition? One would think you would find a larger effect in that population. I dunno...I guess I just tend to focus on health disparities so much, that it seems weird when someone doesn't see the obvious issue.

I am one paper and one final away from completing my master's degree. And they are both due on Tuesday. Boo. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend. I learned my lesson about waiting for the day of this week. I was working on my paper due this Tuesday night on Tuesday morning, then was called for a temp assignment. I'm really glad I took the assignment, too. They totally loved me. AS long as I can get at least one assignment a week, I'll be good. The temp agency seems happy with me,as well. So yay.
