Weekend Visit

Oct 15, 2007 10:28

This past weekend was very busy and very dramatic lol! Kenny and I had planned to make the 3hr drive north to see family on Saturday morning. The plan was to visit his family and stay the night, then go see my family, and then stop in and see Amy and Robert at his parents house and then go home. Could things ever be that simple?

Friday - I woke up and decided that I didn't want to go work. I was tired and hadn't had much sleep. Since I had called out and Kenny got off at 1pm, we decided to go up early. We switched the order of our visits and visited Amy and Robert first. Amy had also called out from her job (due to a very bad migraine). So it worked out. Amy and Robert didn't want our dogs there (landlord cracking down on pets) so Kenny went ahead to his parents and I stay to visit with Amy and Rob. We got to sit around and do nothing but still visit. Thats all that matters. It's actually a good thing we changed the schedule because had we not, we would not have been able to visit Amy and Rob at all. With the way everything happened there wouldn't have been time.

Rob went to bed around ten (I think) and Amy and I stayed up until 2am being dorks. We turned on my Timbaland cd and muted the television and watched cartoons. I tell you, that episode of Family Guy was MEANT to have that CD as it's background music lol. We both swore the characters were singing the songs! The mouths moved perfectly! Needless to say that was a fun and stimulating evening. I haven't had that much fun in a while. I SOOOO needed that!

Saturday - Amy, Robert and I all woke up hungry so we went to Moe's for lunch (we kinda missed breakfast). I stuffed up on delicious nachos and we went back to their apt. It's a good thing I ate so much, considering what was to come in my day, unbeknownst to me of course). Kenny came and picked me up and we went to his parents house. We had planned a cookout as an early party for his mothers birthday, so right after we arrived, I went in and talked to his mom, sister, and our nephew (Aiden). He went out with his dad and began grilling the sausages and ribs. Kenny's mom was doing the inside cooking and FINALLY showed me how to make her delicious macaroni and cheese (lets just say, I would never have guessed how it was made). During this, his sister Victoria decided to go out and ride her horse, Thunder. I got a few pictures and one video of her riding Thunder (and a few videos of Aiden and Kenny being goofballs lol). I ran around with Aiden, pushing him on his tractor and when he got bored he ran over to the boat. Victoria happened to trot past at that moment and mumbled something like "Oh well, if I fall you guys can call for help" (everyone had been teasing her about falling off) and then she continued her loop around the pen. I was in the process of trying to persuade Aiden that he shouldn't be playing with a rusty chain when I heard a thump and a small cry. I KNEW she had fallen. I wasn't scared because she's fallen before and gotten up. So I yelled out "Are you ok?" no answer. "Victoria, are you hurt? Do you need your mom?" YES! I called to Kennys dad and he went running into the pen to get to her. I grabbed Aiden and ran to the door of the house and yelled for Kenny and his mom. I said "Guy's come out here, she fell!" Kenny who was on the cell with HER boyfriend didn't seem to hear me (most likely he just wasn't listening). So I'm like "SHE'S HURT" with that he hangs up on said boyfriend and races out to her. Kenny's mom yells "Should I call rescue?" and his dad yells back "Yes!" So, they call rescue and I take Aiden inside while Kenny's mom calls for help and makes arrangements for family to take Aiden while we are all at the hospital. And as a testament to how small this county is, Victoria's own cousin is her Paramedic. Family arrives to take Aiden and Kenny and I follow the ambulance in our car and his dad follows in his truck. During the ride, I discover that Thunder had spooked at something and threw Victoria. She landed on her back, on a stump and could not move her right hand. Finally we arrive at the hospital (approx. 30 miles away) and I learn that on the ride over, she regained feeling in her hand. The doctor seemed to take forever to get in there. Victoria is screaming in pain and the doctor was nowhere in sight. It took him almost 30 minutes to come in the room, find out where she was hurting and order some x-rays. In all it took about 2 hours for her to get the x-rays done and the Dr. come back with the results. Nothing broken. Then their dad mentioned a bruise on her arm and the doctor said that was one place that wasn't x-rayed. So he ordered another x-ray and we had to wait for the process all over again. FINALLY, the Dr comes back and confirms that her arm is ok as well, that she'll be sore for probably a few weeks but everything looks good. He gave her a prescription for a muscle relaxer and a pain pill and sent her home. Finally at about midnight we get to eat the ribs that had been cooked. We were all famished.

Saturday - I wake up late. I had planned on leaving around 9am to visit my parents, but I woke up at almost 11am. While I was getting ready to leave, Kenny's mom  tells me that the radiologist called (I guess to set up a follow up appt.) and told her that Victoria had a mild concussion, and some fluid buildup in her head and wanted her to come in for a cat scan on Monday. That's to the doctor for tellins us all that huh?

So, I leave and spend the afternoon with my parents basically relaxing from my long night. I ended up taking an hour nap because I was so tired. At seven thirty, I drove back to get Kenny. (he had stayed behind to help his mom in case his sister needed an extra hand -- lets just say, walking --anything-- wasn't coming easy for her). I picked him up and we were about to leave when he asked me for his set of keys. I'm like, "I don't have em, I used mine." So we spent about 30 minutes looking for his keys and found them in the trash!! A two year old will stuff things anywhere! So we get on the road and get home around 11:30pm and I pretty much pass out, I'm so tired.

OH! I almost forgot, I brought home a new addition to my family. Meet Munchkin a dwarf hampster

She was my mom's pet, but she didn't have space for the tank anymore, so I took her! She is pretty mellow compared to other hampsters I've had. The whole ride here, she ran in her wheel. She didn't hide or anything. She was still in the wheel as I was carrying her up my stairs lol!

So I'm tired from this long entry and I unfortunately have to go to work today, so I must get moving!
