{ Character Information }
☆ Nation/City/State: Faroe Islands / Føroyar
☆ Human Name: Týrur Joensen
☆ Age: Appears 14
☆ Birthday: 29 July (Ólavsøka; St Olaf's day - when the Faroese parliament starts its session)

☆ Physical Description: To his deep embarrassment, Týrur has not yet had his growth spurt and is roughly the same height as Greenland, or a bit shorter. He still has the slender frame and stature of a young boy, but is constantly measuring himself against his friends, hoping to at least catch up with them as the year progresses. His brownish-blond hair (lighter than his sister's, though much darker than the other scandinavians) sticks up messily every which way, and he often attempts to squash it down or hide the worst of it it under a spiffy little hat similar to Denmark's. His dark blue-green eyes are usually alight with mischief or in feigned indifference, and his eyebrows are a little thicker than he'd like, betraying his gaelic roots. His casual dress often requires little thought, and he prioritizes comfort over neatness, though he does his best to impress when around people he cares most about. He looks stylishly disheveled when in his school uniform, preferring his tie loose and his shirt untucked.

[note: changes in physical attributes will be addressed when i redo the icons~]

☆ Personality Description: Týrur is a shy but headstrong boy, simultaneously eager to both please and show off his capabilities. He enjoys fishing (especially whaling, and he's somewhat naïve to the implications of this), play-fighting and football and is often with his childhood friends and half-sister, Greenland. When around his family, he's cheerful and outgoing, even rude at times. He secretly (or not so secretly) admires Denmark a lot, and though he wants to rely less on him, he tends to follow him around and let him make most of the decisions anyway. He is trying his best to open up and join in with more international clubs (but not the European Union, unlike Denmark) and take a little more initiative in trade on his own accord. He has close ties to Iceland and his own personal treaties, but he hs not yet announced any real desire to be independent of Denmark - he still needs the financial and emotional support.

☆ History: It is said that the Faroe islands were first populated by a non-sustaining settlement of celibate Irish monks, who used Faroe's lands as a hermitage. What is more well documented, however, is the immigration of Norwegian vikings previously based in the Shetland and Orkney islands, as well as the mass exodus from Norway during the time of King Harald. Norway then introduced the Old Norse language and culture that Faroe considers more his heritage than anything else. Continued Norwegian influence brought Christianity, and Faroe came under Norwegian control. This control was maintained until the Kalmar Union and Denmark-Norway, when Denmark's strong influence over both unions gradually extended to the Faroes, effectively cutting of his trade with an other country. When Norway was ceded to Sweden in the Treaty of Kiel, full control of the Islands (as well as his siblings Iceland and Grenland') was retained by Denmark until the Second World War. During the Second World War, the troubles at home kept Denmark occupied. All contact between the two was lost and Faroe came under British occupation. Home rule was set up and when contact with Denmark was reestablished, Faroe decided on independence. Worried about how he would fare, or perhaps just possessive, Denmark dissolved Faroe's parliament and set up a General Election. Confused, Faroe decided to remain with Denmark. Over the years, Denmark has given Faroe more and more control over his own affairs, even offering Faroe his independence, but Faroe has declined and remained with Denmark til today.

☆ Pets: An Eurasian Oystercatcher (A sea-bird) called Tjaldur. He does not need to be caged, preferring to fly free around the campus grounds to dig up worms before being taken back into Tyrur's room to sleep. The only problem with Tjaldur is that his call can get extremely annoying.

☆ Other: Often calls Denmark and Norway his 'brothers' or even, on rare occasions in private (when he forgets himself), his 'papa' or 'mama', leading Sweden to be his 'uncle'. Their long lists of nicknames for each other are interchangeable and intelligible to them, though perhaps perplexing to other students. He may or may not have a slight boycrush on Denmark, but he. will. never. admit it.
