Okay this is twice now I have found myself wide awake some time between 4 and 5am. This is somewhat okay but frustrating. At least the last two nights I fell asleep early enough that I am not getting a full night's sleep but something close - that is an improvement at least. I feel as if my body is working its very own version of a swing shift. *haunted by Andrews sisters' tune*

On Sunday I nearly fell asleep at the family dining table while visiting Mister's folks, and my eye muscles refused to focus and were sliding all over the place beyond my ability to manage them.

I dug out some very old cassette tapes from the basement yesterday. It can be a lot of fun rediscovering such things. They all seem to be playing on my stereo in mono sadly, but hopefully when we are doing better again I can make a list and haunt a used cd place for replacements. I suspect some might be very hard to find though.

The last few days I have been altering our drapes to add a festoon inspired detail using the tab panel curtains we already have. This is to recycle, save money, to suit the more Victorian/Edwardian features of our house and to reduce the cold that seeps in through the windows. I hope this will save on heating costs. It isn't exactly drafty, just generally cold. I am sure we are losing heat through the attic but the replacement windows are finally just about ordered. As soon as we make the deposit with the innie-law's help the order will be confirmed and sent out. From there it will be nearly a month before the windows arrive and are installed. There is still a lot we need to get done for the house before the winter weather sets in.

The winds have been incredibly high. Our neighbourhood and surrounding area seems to have lost nearly all its leaves in a 24 hour span of time. It was a bit more dramatic than comforting - seeing cars driving past the front of the house, with the leaves blustering in a wind of the same direction at apparently the same speed. It was quite a surreal observation and made the car appear as if being blown down the street rather than driving along.

The maple tree at the front has managed to remain robed to some extent in all this. This is the one I showed a picture of a few weeks back with leaves that were a deep plum/purple, nearly black. Its autumn wardrobe is very copper now. It changes beautifully with the weather. One of the trees in a yard of a neighbour behind us turns a cardinal red - a very vibrant cardinal red at that. There is not much colour left here now but what remains are the beautiful skeletal shapes of the trees, with their elegant twigs lacing the nearest reaches of the sky.

We have sent out the bankruptcy and now we await the judge’s decision. Our budget situation is still terrifying despite that, but with this we reduce our debt payments by about $1500 per month. Hopefully our income will approach some semblance of normality very soon. Mister is in his last week of training in his new job to the power of 2 (he wisely doesn't regret leaving the first new job). They are very pleased with his rapport and work ethics and want to groom him for a position of managing/training. He’s always been a good motivator and has a very positive energy.

The fellow paxdragon has been working with came by with him to work from our home on Monday evening - oh hang on, Monday was last night - I think I meant Saturday @.@. He’s quite a nice fellow and of fairly common interests to us. I hope they continue building a friendship as it is great to find a local person who can make insider jokes of Goth and Pagan content and has a respectful energy. *smile*
