What, an update!?

Nov 20, 2005 08:33

Okay, I know, I'm terrible at updating this thing, but I've been kind of busy. I always think about it at the weirdest times. Yesterday I was sitting in the booth trying to stay awake and I was thinking, "Hmm, maybe I should update my livejournal."

So, I don't remember how long its been since I updated, but I'm now interning for "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" at Irish (good show, see it). I'm running the light board, which is insanely dull, but that's okay. I also have an ulcer, which is kind of an interesting thing to have, so I'm taking some heartburn medication for it. I felt really shitty for a while, but I can work through it now, which is good. And I didn't even miss any school--go me.

As for school itself...eh. It goes. I made it through the first quarter with a 94.3 average, so I can live with it. It would've been higher except for gym--oops, I mean PHYSICAL EDUCATION. It's so fucking dumb. Every class, I put in less and less effort because it becomes increasing obvious how absolutely ridiculous the whole thing is. We've been in the weight room the past two weeks; its a little known fact that proper weight training actually requires a calculator. It's true; we had to use them to divide our one-rep max by our weight, which serves to tell us whether we are Outstanding, Moderate, or Unacceptable. (Out of the five excercises we had to calculate, I am Unacceptable on three of them.) The stupid thing is, I would actually enjoy weight training if it weren't for the fact that we had to walk around with a pen and paper and calculate our one-rep max, and 70% of it, so we can figure out how we rate on some arbitrary scale. Isn't high school phys ed supposed to instill a sense of worth and desire to continue our physical activity well into adult life? Gah. No wonder this country's so fucking fat.

Whew. Okay, sorry about that. It just bothers me. (Betcha didn't guess.) New topic. I have this project for American Drama due tomorrow that I haven't even started yet. I think I'll wait for this evening to start it. Good plan. Ah, procrastination. Gotta love it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've been meaning to look up the NY State Phys Ed curriculum so I can write a well-informed angry letter to the school board.
