my favourite..

since i was just staring at the computer and got kinda bored with nothing to do before i wait for it to be 830, then i can go and have my shower, i decided to write this post on "my favourite".

ive told these to some of my friends before and since the list hasnt change, so i thought why not post it.

lets begin!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE

Roberto Benigni's LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL will transport you to a world that even in its darkest moments, shines a light of hope and joy. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL is a captivating and magical tale of one man's love for his family and his ability to use the power of imagination to save them.

Nominated for 7 Academy AwardsTM in 1998 winning Best Actor - Benigni, Foreign Film and Dramatic Music Score, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL is deeply moving, intensely funny and is an unforgettable masterpiece that will stay with you forever.

i remembered watching this movie when i was 14. it was after school and we were on the way back, in the bus. my friends were deciding to watch a movie and kazu persuaded me to join them. i remembered vividly that i wasnt really interested but somehow i ended following them. it was a decision i  have never regretted. :)

the movie was superb. it was amazing beyond words. i was deeply moved by roberto benigni's love for his son and how he tried his very best to protect  him from the reality of the scary war.

i loved Life Is Beautiful so much and it has been my favourite movie since 11 years ago. no other movies can beat that, i must say. i even bought a dvd of it!

MY FAVOURITE DRAMA

This drama is a remake of the popular suspense drama The Devil that was aired in Korea last year. Ohno Satoshi will be playing the role of a two-faced lawyer, one of which is a kind hearted soul and the other who is plotting revenge, using his brilliant mind, on the person who killed his relative. On the other hand, Ikuta Toma will play the double lead role of the man, who has become a detective due to his dark past, who is pursuing the mysterious series of murders and fighting against the devil (maou).

though i knew about this drama in 2008 when it just started airing in japan and how hot ikuta toma was, i did not watch it until early 2009. im not really a drama-person because once i start watching, i cant stop. because i want to keep watching it, i may lose sleep and not have time for other videos. simply put, watching drama is very tiring for me.

so once again, kazu told me to watch it. convincingly she said the story was very good and to keep a lookout for the aura of the "revengeful lawyer". well.. watch it, i did. and the rest is history. :)

maou was the best! i loved the suspense. i loved the acting. and i loved the "lawyer"! honestly, he blew me away. oh, and i loved the ending too, though it wasnt really a happy one but i thought it was better that it ended that way. and as you may already know, the "lawyer" led me to arashi. so whats there not to love about this drama?

ok, i know, for favourites you can only have one. but recently i fell in love with another drama. this drama is more relate-able to real life events and i got really motivated and inspired after watching it.

MY 2ND FAVOURITE DRAMA

A drama adaptation of a popular comic written by Sekiya Tetsuji. After a year of working at a neighborhood Italian restaurant, Ban Shogo (Matsumoto Jun), an enthusiastic, cocky young college student from Fukuoka, comes to Tokyo to perfect his cooking skills as a chef in Italian cuisine. He discovers he has much to learn and has to continually prove himself to the very competitive, quick and efficient staff at the upscale Italian restaurant.

this drama was aired in 2007 but i just watched it dec 2009. it has been sitting in my harddisk for a long, long time. i never really got to watching it because of the previous reason and also because.. it was matsuJun. back then, he was my number 5 in arashi and i was really not that into him. Hana Yori Dango 1, 2 and The Movie were the only dramas/film that i watched him in. my image of him in arashi was DoS and his character in HYD was also a DoS, so it was really hard for me to tear that image i had of him apart. and when i watch a drama, i am very particular about the storyline as well as the acting skills. for me, in arashi, i felt that only ohno and nino had good acting skills. so that was another reason as well.

but after coming back for my december japan trip, i've raised nino and matsuJun from number 4 and number 5 respectively to number 3 in my arashi ranking list.

so now..
1st - ohno
2nd - aiba
3rd - sho, nino and matsuJun

i cant help it. im unconciously starting to love MatsuMiya and i think they deserve better than 4th or 5th placing. and so 3rd placing is ShoNinoJun. =))

ok, lets get back. so, i watched Bambino and realised that my favourite Arashi song - We Can Make It - was the official soundtrack of it! all the more i enjoyed watching the drama. the song was motivational and it totally matched the drama. i loved how Ban Shogo @ Bambino, despite starting out very cocky, never once gave up when he was put down or alienated for his cockiness. slowly he learnt that he wasnt "all that" and put aside his pride and egoism and wanted to genuinely learn from his seniors. he went through a lot of "getting accustomed to" at his work place. eventhough they were hard and he did not like them, he took them in his stride and did his best. his determination was very admirable.

what i took away from watching this is, you may not like everything that you are assigned to do, but you can LEARN to like it. just like how bambino did. it was easier and more satisfying to enjoy a work that you do rather than to complain as you do the work. which brings me to..

MY FAVOURITE LINE FROM A DRAMA
"a man who can't focus on the work in front of him, doesn't have the right to talk about his dreams." - Kuwahara Atsushi, Bambino.

how true. when i think of work, i really dread it. honestly, i am not motivated and just cant wait to leave after ending my degree. thinking back, i really have no right to dream about my career path when im not even honest in doing my current work. so my resolution this year is to do better in my work and do it honestly and genuinely. giving my best to my students and their parents. i hope He will help me through it.

MY FAVOURITE LINE FROM A MOVIE
"light tomorrow with your dreams today." - Kawato Koichi, Rookies the Movie

i love this. i do believe in the power of dreams. only with dreams can you make it a reality.

MY FAVOURITE QUOTE FROM A PERSON
"you can live whatever life you want through your imagination and dreams." - Ninomiya Kazunari, Arashi

ive mentioned this before and i'll say this again. i love nino for his deep words. i enjoy reading his interviews because the things he says makes me go "woah.." and that has never happened to me before. im not someone who is good with words and i speak without thinking most of the time, so i envy deep-thinkers. this quote from him is the best yet since it combines both life and dreams!

looking at the time, im almost an hour late. got too engrossed with "my favourite..." list. i do have more and when i have the time, i will add on to it. i may even include my "the most..." list.

this was fun! =)
