Every once in awhile, my attention turns to Faith (yup, with the capital letter).  Do I have it, do I want it, and what does it matter anyway?

If I had to describe my perfect spiritual group, it would be as follows.  Every Saturday morning, a bunch of people of all ages would get together in a room rented from the local college/private school/community center/library to read poetry, newspaper articles, and anything else they chose.  People would take turns leading, and might even chose loose themes.  Sometimes there would be a band.  If someone had something they wanted to say, they would wait for a turn and then say it.  There would be a school sorta thing for the kids, where they'd make crafts and read picture books like Grandpa Green and the older kids would talk about sex ed and the community service project they were doing next Friday. After "services," there would be food, coffee, and herbal tea...people would take turns being in charge.  Leadership would consist of a board elected every two years, without a former minister/pastor/rabbi.  There'd be a tree on Christmas and a seder on Passover and anything else anyone wanted.  There wouldn't be a lot of talk about God or Jesus but there would be a lot of talk about meaning, responsibility (social, environmental, etc.), and life questions.  Every once in a while, there would be a drum circle.  All sorts of people would attend:  families, singles, kids, old people, straight/gay/whatever.  And there would be special events several times a month, and special-interest groups for those interested.

So, basically, I think I want a combination of Unitarian Universalists (who weird me out by meeting on Sunday mornings and having ministers), Jews (too religious for me), Quakers (also too religious for me), and the kinda odd socialist/atheist/Jewish school I went to in third grade.  Why can this not actually exist?
