I had a pretty aggressively normal childhood. Nuclear family, a house in the suburbs, hamburger helper for dinner. My mother stayed home while I was very small and babysat kids out of our house, my father still works at the same small business buying and selling tools. I felt weird for lots of things growing up, but never for my family situation.
But my eventual adopted/conceived through artificial insemination vegetarian children with two gay moms are definitely not going to have an average childhood, and I'm already starting to feel a little guilty (though probably not enough to actually prevent me from having a family).
