My Grandfather is doing about the same. They cannot do a bypass or a stint. At the moment, we have been told that they are just trying to get him back to at least being healthy enough to leave the hospital and then they will try to manage him with medication. To me, that just spells out borrowed time, really. He has a major artery blocked. Last I heard one of his lungs was bleeding and they were trying to get that to stop and prevent pneumonia.
My Mom is still in the hospital as well. SIGH. She had a spinal tap done that revealed nothing. That is the *second* time she has had to endure a spinal tap. Nobody should have to do that. The current doctor thinks that she needs to go from the hospital into a rehab facility for two weeks, which would involve extensive physical therapy to help her get some strength back in her legs as well as hopefully help her lungs get some of their capacity back. You would think that she would want to go, but ... no. Currently, my Aunt and I are trying to put our heads together to figure out what we can do to get her to understand that if she doesn't start cooperating, she IS going to kill herself - unintentionally. So, we'll see, it's a long complicated story that I do not have the energy to type out. Needless to say, it's taxing and in conjunction with the recent condition of my Grandfather is more than just a little overwhelming.
