awkward moment #839543954: and i didn't really have to pee at all.

For one of my film classes, we had to watch a movie in which one of the central characters had no hands.  The actor, in real life, had lost his hands in an explosion.  Before watching the film I did a little bit of research, which also led me to learn that the actor was (1) from the area and (2) had passed away about four years ago.  This would explain why the theatre had so many people in it and why people were clapping so often:  his friends and family had probably come to watch him (he had only made very few films).

Sitting next to me, during the movie, was a guy from my class who just so happens to personify the word handsome.  I often find myself gazing at him during class, since he is just so classically handsome.  But I had never really held a conversation with him before.  I also suspect that he is somewhat of an official New York socialite, but I digress.

Fast forward to the end of the film-he turned to me and said as loudly as possible, “WOW, THAT FILM SUCKED!”  Stunned, I had no idea what to say.  I had rather ambivalent feelings toward the movie.   I did not want to seem disrespectful to those sitting around us, so I did not want to agree with him.  At the same time, I did not want to seem hostile or unfriendly to Mr. Beautiful.

Instead, I stammered, “I, um, have to pee ... like … real bad.”

That’s right.  Real classy.

He apologized, and I told him, “It’s okay.”  Then, I hurried out of the theatre as quickly as possible.

awkward, melodrama, embarrassing, dumb, stupid, woops
