I took our phone to Verizon this afternoon to ask why it was unusable, and the customer service person there repaired it for us. (Without even asking if we had it insured, and free of charge!) Apparently it needed some sort of cleaning. In any case, it's in working order again, so we don't have to rely on AIM or expensive text messaging to communicate.
