Takamasa grew up hearing constant reminders of his existence being some sort of mistake. It was one thing that his mother was a foreigner, some woman from Japan who fled to Hong Kong to hide from several money lenders. But it was another thing that this mother of his was a lady of the night. It was no secret that he was a result of one of her job's many work hazards, and it was no surprise that his father (whoever he was) left his mother who "couldn't even keep her legs together before she could find out where the man was from." Since his mother truly knew nothing of his father's origins, Takamasa could protect neither her nor himself, leaving him with no option but to endure society's derision. The condemnation went on for years, until a certain time during Takamasa's fifteenth year on Earth, when his volatile adolescent emotions and destructive state of mind could take no more.
I want everything to disappear. Next thing he knew, everything and everyone in town - including his mother - were gone without a trace. He was alone, save for a solitary figure standing before him on a mere patch of land.
"Son, you're in a heap of trouble."
The celestials and the beginnings of Hong Kong's supernatural Council were not happy about Takamasa obliterating an entire city and the damage control his actions called for. Even death seemed too light a punishment for this deed, but the Council did take into consideration the boy's level of maturity and utter lack of awareness of his powers until this point. Noting that and the idea of training him so he could be of use to the Council later on, the celestials sentenced him to a lifetime commitment of serving the Council and its members, starting from the very bottom. Power limiters were then installed on the boy's body, and Takamasa was given a new name, Miyavi, to start a new life.
Although presently the Council representative of the demigod community, Miyavi seemingly sees none of the importance of this role. He has on several occasions skipped out on urgent Council meetings, purposely disrupted discussion to "keep the atmosphere light," and merely laughed off any complaints sent to him about his faction. Some see this as some form of arrogance, his way of showing the world that he is too good for such trouble. But really, all he is doing is enjoying this lifetime sentence as much as he could. He is a demigod, after all; it might be a while before this job contract ends.
ABILITY
Miyavi, quite literally, makes things vanish. He has the power to bend space to create black holes, a rather minuscule representation of the dark realms that fall under his father's jurisdiction as Lord of the Dead and the Afterlife. His wormholes are basically tunnels; one end sucks in an almost endless variety of things, and then Miyavi sends them out through the other end. If he so wishes, he has the option not to control the tunnels and simply let the natural gravity completely atomize whatever the wormholes take in.
Prior to his release, power limiters were placed on Miyavi's body. The tattoos on his body are seals that prohibit him from using his black holes to suck in a living soul. He can make all other forms of matter disappear - air, earth, water, fire, and even light - but not whoever wields these elements. His lip ring also serves as a power limiter; it disallows the use of space bending on very massive objects, such as buildings, ships, or whole bodies of water.
Another limit to his ability is he cannot "summon" objects unless he can see them. Also, he can send matter only to places he can actually see (the cloud bank from a distance is possible; Mount Vesuvius from a photograph is not).
