wow, it's been a long time since i wrote here. i keep meaning to, so many things have changed in my life since the last entry. i just never seem to have the time... it's funny how, as a student, you expect a huge shift in quality of life (more time, less stress, more money) once you leave college. in my experience, it never really materialized. work takes up just as much time, leaves you just as stressed, and your expenses increase -- so any increase in cash is just eaten right up.
anyway--here's the short list of everything that i've been up to the last year:
1) i graduated from carnegie mellon (with honors!!) in may 2007.
2) i got a job in new york and moved in with my boyfriend and cat. i work as a project manager for a software company that focuses on the HES segment of the chemical industry.
3) my job has taken me to many interesting places, many many times:
. 1) copenhagen, denmark (just once)
. 2) berlin, germany (4 times -- once for 8 weeks)
. 3) manchester, england (once)
. 4) liverpool, england (once)
. 5) east runcorn, england (3 times)
. 6) bilbao, spain (once)
. 7) paris, france (once)
. 8) brussels, belgium (once)
. 9) pittsburgh, pa (3 times)
. 10) social circle, ga (4 times)
. 11) st. louis, mo (once)
5) through my job, i've leased an apartment in paris so i can work out of paris part time. the apartment is just 20 minutes walk from the moulin rouge and literally right around the corner (~100 feet) from the front door of one of my favorite sorority sisters.
6) i've had a very difficult time meeting friends in new york -- partly because i'm away so frequently, and partly because i'm too tired to go looking. however, shea and i have recently begun to go out with another couple (his coworker and wife) and i really like them. i was very disappointed when i came here because there was no kappa alumni group, but i've since realized that i didn't really have the time to be heavily involved. still, something is missing because there is no kappa here.
7) i've become addicted to target, garage sales, electronica, and law & order.
8) i've also taken up extreme crafting: canvas painting, furniture refurb, glass cutting, fabric dye
9) i'm a little embarrassed to admit this -- and a little disappointed that i am sharing it with a few of you here before i can see you -- but it's ok. i realized that i had a huge issue with how i was eating and i joined weight watchers. i've lost 30 lbs so far, and i'm still going. i can't believe how overweight i became in college. mind boggling.
so that was my last year. it's a bit belated for a new year's entry, but i wanted to write something.
