Picspam: Casting The Wicked Lovely Series (PART 2)
Okay... I think I'm getting a bit obsessive with this series, but I just can't believe it ended! T_T So my frustration is being vented out via photoshop. I decided to try and cast even more of the citizens of Wicked Lovely and so I hope you guys aren't too annoyed by my insane amount of fangirling and just enjoy the pretty people. =)
Note: There may be spoilers for Fragile Eternity, Radiant Shadows and Darkest Mercy so tread carefully, but I will try and white out any of the spoilers.
Eliza Dushku as ANI
I think I can describe Ani in one word: badass. I happen to be a huge fan of Eliza Dushku's Faith character on Buffy and when I was reading Radiant Shadows I immediately thought of Eliza to play the role. If you know Faith at all I don't think you need any further convincing.
Matt Czuchry as DEVLIN
This one was a tough one to cast, but I wanted someone who looked rather prim and proper and I thought Matt does a good job portraying the rich bad boy in Gilmore Girls and the ambitious, but rather endearing Cary on The Good Wife. I also think it would be interesting to see him acting opposite Eliza Dushku and try and be all proper and High Court and having her sort of seduce him. I have a thing for crackships, so this one might be kind of weird, but I rather like the idea of him being the High Court assassin and Sorcha's right hand man.
Kristen Bell as ANKOU
A new character that shows up in Darkest Mercy. She is the sister of death. And what made me cast Kristen Bell as her was this one picture of Kristen with long platinum blonde hair and this rather haunted look to her (see image above) and it just hit me. She would be PERFECT. Kristen has amazing acting abilities (although she makes poor movies choices *cough* when in rome *cough*) and I think she would be amazing in this role. Plus she has that crazy eyes thing going on as Elle in her short stint on Heroes so we know she can play psycho!chick well. =)
Lee Pace as FAR DORCHA
Another new character that shows up in Darkest Mercy. Far Dorcha is the death fay. And there's a lot of mystery shrouding him and his sister. When reading I immediately thought of Lee Pace because I recall watching his movie, The Fall, when he was rocking some mad eyeliner and how there's this sort of sinister look to it. I thought if anything death would look calm, cold and sinister. Therefore Lee would be perfect in that role, particularly since he plays a pretty good psycho opposite of Sarah Michelle Geller in the movie Possession. I have a thing for psycho/crazy eyes.... yes I do. >_>
Cate Blanchett as SORCHA
Sorcha is basically the omnipotent high court queen and so I wanted someone to portray that level of royalty and order and reason. So who better than the actress that played Queen Elizabeth I? I think this was a rather straight forward casting, at least for me. Cate has been amazing in her role as Elizabeth and I feel like Sorcha is very much cut from the same cloth.
Helena Bonham Carter as BANANACH
She is chaos and war. Her appearance often likened to a mad raven. I thought Helena Bonham Carter was absolutely perfect and I think many people agree. She can act crazy and deranged wonderfully and if you need an example of her incredible skills just watch the Harry Potter series. You need an excuse to watch them anyways (because they are AWESOME) so just do it. =P
Tilda Swinton as BEIRA
Beira is the Winter Queen and Tilda Swinton has played the White Witch in the Narnia series and I thought she was absolutely amazing in it. Definitely why I thought The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe worked, but why the rest of the Chronicles of Narnia didn't. At least that's my opinion anyways. I'm typecasting a bit, but I think if someone is perfect already, don't change it.
So ends my final picspam for the Wicked Lovely series. I had way too much fun doing this and I am really sad to let the series go. If I have intrigued anybody at all and made them curious about this lovely book series then I have done my job. I hope you enjoyed!
