Note: TESS DID NOT KILL ALEX!!!! *coughs* Well, at least not here anyway. *sigh* Also, this is my third EDR-character fic in three days - all different characters -  and it is the third one that's been from her character's second-person POV. Geez, that's just WEIRD. Also, I have a new hyphen obsession. SHHH.

You sit silently on your bed, your knees clutched up to your chest with Kyle’s sunflowers lying desolately next to you. Max will be here soon - it’s almost time to leave.

You’re ready for this - you’ve been waiting to leave this planet since the day you crawled out of your pod. Nasedo taught you everything you need to know. And yet, you’re finding it hard to let go.

“Why?” you whisper.

You know why. There are two reasons - and they’re last names both end with Valenti. You care about Jim and Kyle; they’re the first two humans that showed you any respect or care (actually, they’re the only people to every really care about you - not even Max can claim that, you know deep down). Saying goodbye to them both was hard; and you’re sure that if you touched your cheek right now it’d be damp with warm tears.

Footsteps echo up the hall and you quickly swipe any moisture from your cheeks. Max is in the doorway, but you simply stare ahead blankly, shivering from your cold chill.

“Let’s go,” he commands; and like the loyal wife you are, you rise before him. This is your chance, you know that, and so you don’t stop yourself from slipping out: “Max, are you sure you want to do this?”

Before you even finish your question, his hands are wrapped around your wrists and it makes you feel nervous and powerful at the same time. You were wrong before - he has to care about you because he’s nodding ‘Yes”. You smile weakly at him, feeling the baby kick in your stomach.

“Right. Right.” You reply, nodding your agreement but silently hoping Kyle will walk in and convince you not to leave. It’s not going to happen - of course - and you know that when Max dips down to kiss you.

Max. Liz. They’re in the jeep and it’s night. Max is wearing his black shirt - the shirt he’s wearing now! Max leans in and kisses Liz with a passion you’ve never experienced from him.

You pull away from the upsetting flash and stare up at Max in disbelief.

“You kissed Liz?” you gasp as a rush of embarrassing hurt rushes through you. Max simply stares vacantly down at you for several moments before you wrestle out of his grasp. You can vaguely hear him calling out for you, but you continue to struggle until finally you push him away - you hit the bed with a thunk, but don’t fall.

“Stay the fuck away from me you bastard,” you whimper, sounding not at all like the Queen you secretly are - more like the pathetic teenager you despise.

And he’s staring at you with pity.

“Tess, it was nothing. It was just goodbye,” he insists. You scoff, retreating into your mask of sarcasm and disbelief. “Honest, it was. We don’t have much time - we have to go.”

You harden. You know the glare you’re giving him is filled with every bit of rage and hatred you’ve felt all year - both to and from you.

“No. Get the hell out of here Max,” you demand. Now he’s glaring at you too - probably wishing you weren’t so stubborn and hot-headed. You don’t care; you just want Max Evans as far away from you and your unborn son as possible. Liz can have him, you don’t even fucking care anymore.

“I’m not leaving. Tess, I refuse to let you put our son’s life in danger because of some silly kiss with Liz. I love you Tess, you. It’s you I’m having a child with and you I’m leaving the planet with.”

You feel like you should cry now. You’re sure that if you were completely human than you would. But you’re not - so you don’t.

“You might think you love me Max, but you’re in love with Liz. It’s always about Liz fucking Parker. Why couldn’t you ever care about me like you do about her? I’m supposed to be your wife Max!” You sigh. You give up - why even bother trying anymore? Max made it more then clear last summer that he doesn’t love you. In fact, it wasn’t until Alex’s death and his fight with Liz that he even really showed you much attention. You can’t believe you let him fool you for this long.

“Just get the hell out of here. I can take care of the baby myself,” you swear; and you know deep down that you could, you don’t need him to raise this child. Max is scoffing at you now, which just makes the rage you feel for him grow even more.

“So what? You’ll leave the planet alone? Leave not only me, but Isabel and Michael behind all because of what? A stupid kiss? Grow up.”

Thwack.

The sound resonates throughout the room. Your powers must’ve welled up during the argument because of your emotions, because Max now has a small silver handprint staining his cheek. Or maybe the baby did it? You don’t know, and you don’t particularly care.

“Goodbye Max. I hope you and Liz have a brilliant life,” you growl. You storm out of your bedroom - Kyle’s now again you suppose - and right up to the Jeep. Isabel and Michael must’ve come inside with Max - maybe they’re talking to Jim and Kyle? - because it’s empty. With a determined sigh, you slip in and rev the engine.

You’re two blocks away before Max makes it onto the Valenti’s front lawn. Australia’s nice this time of year, you decide.

You say goodbye and willingly leave Tess behind.
