So, why Patrick Stewart? Well, wake up and smell the hottie! One of the five sexiest men alive. Legolas? Just so damn pretty. Orlando's cute enough, but Legolas is just so unearthly in his beauty--they did a wonderful job w/ his look. The Crow, Trent, and Ripley all have their Byronic aspects, and I'm loving the newest NIN album, With Teeth. And "The Crow" is one of the best movies ever and gets a lot of attention in my book. And Ripley? Well, see above re Patrick. SW is the goddess, and Ripley is so fucking hot when she's fucking scary. :-) Also in my book. The image and quote are from "Alien Resurrection."
Cats and Neil Gaiman. A pretty natural combination. I've wanted to do some icons of my cats anyway. The pleasingly plump calico with attitude is Tyger (aka Tygie, my delicate little Tiger Lily, and my Pudge Muffin d'Amour), the cat with the dark stripes is Kitten Willow Kenobi (aka Willow! Willow! Willow!), and the gray, scruffy "adult kitten" with the belly is Jack Sparrow (aka, The Godess of Chaos, the Harbinger of Destruction, and the Second Law of Thermodynamics Incarnate). They're all females. I have many favorite quotes from The Sandman, a couple of which I've already iconed, but the cat one is just well--true. Neil really understands cats. Not only should you read "A Dream of a Thousand Cats," but also Coraline, which has a very catlike cat. The Delirium/Dream dialog here (from The Sandman: Brief Lives) has long been a favorite of mine; it sums up so much of my life (and no doubt most people's), but Delirium's reaction is just so right on. And in the last icon, the match b/t the quote and BTVS was so perfect, given Joss's ever-so-optimistic view of relationships (hah!). And, well, I think the quote (spoken by the character Rose Walker) pretty much sums up *my* love life. Iconing as therapy--don't knock it until you've tried it. :-)
