That wasn't a very nice gesture he gave me. I was tempted to give him a gesture of my own, but I was slightly more mature than that. Then he climbed out on the ledge himself. He wan't crazy enough to fling himself over the side, was he? What was I thinking, of course he was. He took a book for a walk.
Let's see what else this body can do. I tried to judge the distance and crouched down, focusing all my energy into my legs. I didn't think I could fly, but I was willing to bet I could leap pretty well. Hummed the theme from Superman and Pushed up off teh ground. Thought I might have heard the cement crack.
Going up was even more fun than free falling had been. The looks people were giving me as I passed their windows were priceless. As I neared the top, I had this horrible feeling that if I bumped into Wes he'd go falling over the edge.
Needless to say, leaping a tall building in a single bound is enjoyable, but stopping, that's another thing all together. I caught my foot on the edge of the roof and knocked into Wes, pushing him back from the ledge. We both hit with a huge thud. "You okay? I need to work on my steering. Guess lawyers can fly."
Leaning up on my elbows I stare up at him with wide eyes. What the bloody hell? One moment I was looking out over the city, the next I have Lindsey McDonald on top of me. Really, there's a time and place for everything. Besides, I don't have time, I need to go find Lilah. Need to tell her I didn't mean it. Need to...do something.
"Are you asking me out on a date? You are aren't you? You're just to afraid to admit it!" Narrowing my eyes I waggle my finger at him and giggle. "You certainly have a very strange method of doing so." Getting up I brush of my clothes and wince. Great, first a wall now this. I'll have some nice bruises. Stupid git.
"Well, I'm sorry I can't go no a date with you any time soon I'm afraid. I'm..." Already taken? I don't know. If Lilah were here I might be. But...she left. "I already have other plans." Nodding far to many times at that I sigh and turn around. "Besides, I left my book in the sodding lobby. And my sword. If they're gone, I'm going to blame you. Show you a different kind of flying." No one had better taken those items, they're valuable.
A date? I got to my feet and just blinked at him a few times. "Oh yes, I came all the back up to the roof in a single bound because I want your body." I scowled at him and then burst into laughter.
I looked him over while I tried to get myself back under control. Hair standing up in all directions, clothes messed up, and a small cut on his forehead. Way to go Lindsey, he's much better off now than before you came out of your lair.
"If they're gone, sue me. Plenty of lawyers around to pick the case up." That caused another fit of laughter. I walked closer to Wes and reached out, touching the wound on his head. He started to flinch and I frowned. "Hold still, I'd hate to stick you back together wrong." Sent a little wave of energy into his skin and watched the cut heal. "That was cool!" I looked at my fingers in amazement.
"Hey! No touching before the first date," I scowl at him. Really, very funny man. I'm dying with laughter here. I flinch away as his hands comes near me again. Please don't hurt me, I'll be good, I promise. Really, all I wanted was to find Lilah again. I try to get away but something is holding me back. Maybe because I don't really care anymore.
He send a wave of that energy again, making my skin tingle sharply. Bringing up my hand I touch where he did and it comes away with a bit of blood. I hadn't even noticed that. "Oh. Thank you." Confused I look at him as he looks at his fingers in amazement. "Yes...cool," I nod at that wearily. Who cares? It's not going to help me find Lilah any faster.
Running a hand through my hair I sigh. "I'll have to postpone our first date though. I'm going to find Lilah. I have to tell her I'm sorry. I have to tell her I'm sorry. Yes, that's what I'll have to do. If you'll excuse me?" Pushing my hands into my pockets I turn around and look down at my feet confused. Why are they so cold? Ah well, never mind that now.
Hadn't known I could heal, so far all I'd really been able to do was blow things up and I did burn Angel. That had been fun. He was going to explode when he got back and saw how his car looked. I walked over to the edge and peered down. Firetrucks were currently working on putting out the ruins of the 'vette.
Turned back and looked at Wes. He sounded so broken, but hopefully Lilah would be able to put him back together again. "Wes, if you don't find her, I'll make sure she finds you." When he looked down at his feet, so did I. Barefoot on a roof. Shook my head. "You're going to hurt your feet if you aren't careful."
I walked over to the door and held it open for him. "If you need anything or there's a problem, just come up to my office, I'll try and take care of it. Not too many people know what I can do yet, and I'd like to keep it that way." Gave him a small smile. "Things'll get better, just give it time."
Lilah's words keep echoing through my mind. Thing will get better? I highly doubt that. Highly. Lowly too. She left. No she didn't just leave. She ran out of there. Away from me. Scuffing one foot over the cold roof I sigh. "I doubt that. Time just makes everything worse." Nodding at that, I slump down a bit and walk through the door.
I feel like running, fighting, hitting something, someone. Anything. "I'll take the stairs," I mutter opening the doors. Halfway down the stairs, I slap my forehead and run back up the stairs again. "Don't forget out date," I giggle at his back. "I'll have to ask if it's okay with Lilah first though!" Closing the door I start to run down the stairs back to the lobby.
It feels good to run, even if it hurts my feet. I'll go get my book and my sword. Then go back to my office and wait there for Lilah. She'll be back, she'll be back. She has to come back. She's all I have now. Was she real? I can only hope so. Everything else seems to be fake. I want her to be real.
"Do you wish for me to lie to you now?"
"Yes, yes I do. Not Fred though, nor Illyria. Lie-lah, Delilah, my Lilah." But I don't want her to be a lie. She'll come back, she will. Right? God, I hope so.
I'd have to make it clear to Lilah that she needed to fix whatever the hell had broken inside of Wes. I'd help out, but I still wasn't totally sure how my powers worked, and I'd rather not scramble his brains more than they already are.
Started to go into my office when I heard his voice call out to me again. Oh no, wouldn't want to forget our date. Maybe Lilah and Wes could come on a double date with Darla and I. Wouldn't that just be a barrel of monkeys?
I closed the door behind me and sat down in the middle of my floor. Wes had said I should work on controlling the powers, and while I waited for something to happen, I'd practice right now. Closed my eyes and let myself relax, feeling the energy all around me. Focus the lightning, channel it back into myself. Felt my body slowly raising off the floor. Cool! Made a note to thank Wes for the tip later.
