Warning: Big Geek Stuff Ahead.
As best I can remember, here are my personal theme songs over the years. Everyone should have personal theme songs. Perfect fit is a bit much to ask for, close is good enough or you have to write your own. Any conclusions you draw from the kind of music that speaks to me is likely correct, as I'm probably just not that deep a guy.
Past theme songs:
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Pink Floyd - Brain Damage
Genesis - Land of Confusion
Don Henley - Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough
The Cure - Lovesong
NIN - Hurt
The Cure - Burn
Offspring - Self Esteem
Offspring - Gotta Get Away
The runners-up for my current theme song:
Five for Fighting - Superman
I got a new and strangely positive reaction to this one. Normally when I admit to having theme songs, big geek that I am, I tend to get an eye roll, a sympathy look, or a nervous or concerned expression that says "boy are you fucked up and why aren't you in therapy?". This time, I got a nice reaction along the lines of "that a nice song, reminds me of you."
I like that. Too nice for me to use right now, though.
Linkin Park - In the End
I really groove on this one, the theme, the chorus... but it's more of an ode to old pain, not new pain. This would have been a perfect fit once, and I hope it never will be again, so it just gets to be a runner up.
Current theme song:
Linkin Park - Crawling
It's neat. Divining of more detail than that, however easy, will be left as an exercise for the audience.
All I can think of for now. Time for a brief nap attempt before I go nightwalking again.
