“Look at me Claire! Look at me!”

Claire Walker placed her magazine down on the countertop and turned around to face her sister. Six-year-old Molly grinned up at her, dressed in her new school uniform that Claire remembered owning herself just a few years ago.

“Well hey there Molly-Golly, look at you!” she teased, flashing her own wide smile. Molly scrunched up her face, glaring at the older girl.

“Don’t call me that!” the brunette exclaimed, and Claire laughed in reply. She squatted in front of her sister and tugged on one of her piggytails.

“How you gonna stop me, huh?” Claire continued, “huh Molly?”

“Claire, stop teasing your sister,” their mother piped up as she entered the kitchen, their father on her heels. Claire rolled her eyes and straightened up, flattening out the creases in her top. Molly stuck her tongue out at Claire, who stuck out her own in retaliation.

“You two are clearly very mature for your age,” their father chuckled, squeezing Claire’s shoulder lightly as he passed her to reach the coffee machine. Claire shrugged, sharing a grin with her sister before quickly shoving her magazine into her backpack.

“Alright girls, we need to get a wriggle on,” Mrs Walker said, picking up her keys and kissing her husband fondly on the cheek. Molly squealed, bouncing on the spot and reaching out to grab her sister’s hand.

“Let’s go Claire! I call the front seat!” Molly shouted, tugging her sister out the front door. Claire groaned, but couldn’t help smiling at her sister’s antics. She couldn’t ask for a more loving family after all.

The Sureshs

“Claire, come back here this instant!”

Claire Suresh spun on her heel and glared at her father, who was practically sputtering in outrage. Her mother stood slightly behind him, a comforting hand lying on his shoulder.

“Or what? You’re going to ground me? I don’t care! I hate it here!” Claire shouted, her hands clenching at her sides. Her mother murmured her name, but Claire paid her no heed. “I want to go home. I’m sick of your crazy, never-ending theories; and I’m not the only one who is!”

Mohinder sighed from the couch and rolled his eyes, “don’t drag me into this.”

Claire turned to face him, her glare now fixed on her older brother. “Why not? It’s true! You’re sick of this insanity just as much as I am!”

“That’s enough,” Chandra cut in, “whether you like it or not, we’re staying in New York. You may think that my theories are insane, but they’re not. I have a nice young man named Gabriel Grey coming to visit in an hour and you will be on your best behavior. Do you understand miss?”

Claire ground her teeth together and crossed her arms over her chest. “Yes, sir.” With a flounce, she stomped back into her room. Why did she have to have such a crazy family?

The Parkmans

“What’s up Claire?”

Claire Parkman glanced up from her book to find her brother Matt standing over her, a dopey grin on his face. She smiled back, placing her book to the side and sitting up slightly straighter.

“Um, nothing Matty. What’s going on? You look like you won the lottery or something,” she giggled, pushing aside her blonde hair when it flopped into her eyes. Matt’s grin widened as he sat down beside his sister on her bed.

“Oh nothing much,” he replied, chuckling when the pre-teen shot him an incredulous look, “okay, maybe something. Something really, really big.” He paused for a moment before continuing, “well, I asked Janice to marry me last night.”

Claire scrunched up her face in distaste. “Really? But why? She’s so mean!”

Matt sighed, well aware of the bitter rivalry between his sister and his now-fiancé, “look, Claire, I really love Janice. And she loves me. She’s going to move in with us soon, and you need to be okay with that.” Claire grumbled under her breath, so Matt pulled her into a small hug.

“But what if she ruins everything?” Claire whimpered into his shoulder. “What if she moves all my stuff and makes me do all the chores like Jackie’s new mommy does?” Matt laughed lightly, pulling away from the insecure girl to look her in the eye.

“Don’t worry Claire, I won’t let that happen,” he assured her with a wink. Claire smiled brightly - she definitely had the coolest brother anyone could ever ask for.

The Petrelli/Bennet’s

“Claire, you have a visitor!”

Claire Bennet glanced up from her math homework, her eyes lighting up at the site in front of her. “Nathan! Peter!” she gasped, stumbling to her feet to crash into her biological father’s arms. His hands smoothed over her hair as she breathed him in.

“It’s good to see you too sweetheart,” he murmured in her ear; and when she pulled away, she smiled up at him.

“Hey! Where’s my hug?” Claire turned to her uncle to find him mock-pouting at her, so she laughed and hugged him tight too. When she moved out of his arms, she took a moment to bask in the sight of her family, her biological family, standing in front of her.

“Claire-bear?”

Claire turned around to see her dad standing on the edge of the stairs, glancing down at them quizzically. Her grin widened - now the moment was perfect. She moved to tug him into the hallway, bringing him to her father and uncle.

“Dad, meet Nathan. Nathan, meet my dad,” she said, glancing between the two men hopefully. Noah and Nathan watched each other silently, seeming to appraise the other wearily. Finally, Nathan held out his hand and Noah shook it warmly.

Claire smiled brighter than ever before; she truly couldn’t ask for a better family.
