If any of you are in the downtown LA area on Monday, March 7th... Come see 'Seven Swans' at USC.
One of the most complex student films ever shot, using Panavision/Sony CineAlta f-900's, the very same cameras George Lucas used to shoot Episode II and III on as well as shooting COMPLETELY on green screen, it features over 600 special effects shots. This is nearly twice as many as in Episode I and was completed in only 9 months using two people. The backgrounds were shot much later on location in upstate New York and Ireland using 16 megapixel digital cameras donated by Kodak.
Another groundbreaking aspect of this film is that it is the first film to feature 10.2 surround sound. That's 14 channels of sound. Most movie theatres today can only support 7.1 surround sound. It was developed by USC's very own sound professor, Tomlinson Holman, the inventor of THX.
