Summary: Faith and Stabler taken down a nest of vampires in New York.
Word Count: 500
New York during the summer always seems to leave her skin gritty and grimy. There never seems to be any relief from the hot, hot, hot summers, especially when you’re a Slayer. It’s impossible to get any rest during the day and during the night, well the vampires of New York are numerous and they never rest.
Right now, Faith’s head is pounding, her skin feels like dirty, her mouth is dry and she wants to catch the first flight out of New York. However as she pauses at the door of the warehouse, she can’t because of a nest of vampires that have been performing nightly rituals involving Slayer blood. And Buffy had decided to send her in to take care of the problem.
“Are you going to open the door?” Stabler asks.
Faith shoots him a dirty look before she yanks the door open. Although she’s glad that he’s there, especially since Buffy hadn’t deemed it necessary to supply Faith with any other back up than a bunch of inexperienced Slayers, she’s not too happy about his attitude. Then again she can’t blame him either, it’s been years since she ran into him in a dirty alleyway. She can’t expect him to be too happy that she’s suddenly burst back into his life again.
He follows her into the dark and musty warehouse, his gun drawn. Normally she’d be against guns to take down vampires, however Stabler’s bullets have been blessed by a priest and bathed in holy water. They might not actually kill a vampire, but they’ll definitely slow one down. As they move closer to where the nest is, Faith slightly turns around and puts her index finger against her lips. Stabler simply signals to her to move forward. She keeps forgetting that although he’s a civilian, he has a lot of experience when it comes to this type of thing.
When they burst through the room where the majority of the nest, Faith forgets about everything but the task at hand. She barely registers Stabler’s gun going off as he shoots at the vampires to prevent them from ganging up on her. Faith’s in a zone that only involves punching, kicking and staking. After each vampire she stakes, another takes its place before the ashes of the last have even settled on the floor.
Twenty minutes later and it’s all over. She’s panting as Stabler checks the injury that she had gotten from a vampire with a particularly wicked looking blade.
“I think you’ll live,” Stabler tells her.
“Good,” Faith replies.
“Now what?”
“You go back to being a cop and I check up on the junior Slayers before leaving New York.”
“Just like that?”
“I don’t see any point in sticking around.”
“What about the other Slayers?”
“The Council is sending them a Watcher, someone to help them out.”
“I’d like to be involved.”
“Fine, I’ll tell their Watcher that.”
Stabler nods at her and this time she follows him out of the warehouse.
