She stares into the mirror and there's a familiarity there that strikes her as odd. Almost as if this is not where she's supposed to be or who she's supposed to be. She reaches out and touches the mirror. It's cold against her fingertips, which glide against the surface, trying to figure out the map of her face.

Somehow she knows that she should be familiar with her own face. It is after all her face. Yet as she stares at it whilst tracing the reflection of it, she can't help but think that her face belongs to someone else. She shakes her head and pulls her hand away from the mirror. It's a silly thought, her face is her face, even if she vaguely remembers having another face and her face belonging to another person. She tries to tell herself that her sense of distortion is because of her odd dreams the night before.

When her husband calls for her, she smiles at her reflection and turns away. It really is silly to think that her face isn't her own. It's always been her face. Still just before she walks out of the bathroom, she stops to stare one more time at her reflection and she can't help but think that her lips were never quite that full, her eyes never quite that shade of brown, her skin that flawless or her hair that perfect.

Rebecca shrugs her shoulders and puts away the silly notions about her face and who she is. She tells herself that it's just the excitement about the new house and Joel's success. It was a shock to find out that her husband had suddenly become an overnight internet success, especially after her mother, her sister, her friends and her coworkers had told her that he was useless and that she should leave him. She had always stuck by him because she had loved him and now here he was surprising her with the house of her dreams.

"Rebecca," Joel quietly says.

She smiles at him, all of her earlier thoughts forgotten as she throws her arms around him.

"It's too much Joel, far too much."

"You deserve the best."

She can sense the sadness in his voice and it's on the tip of her tongue to ask him what's wrong but the sight of her reflection in the window stops her. Instead she kisses him. It's not like them to keep secrets from her but somehow she knows that Joel's sadness will always remain a secret to her. She decides to just enjoy the moment, to enjoy the moment that Joel had gone through so much trouble to create for her.

He leads her through the house before ending in the bedroom. They fall onto the bed together in a tangle of limbs. She forces down the thought that this feels different than normal and instead focuses on kissing her husband. Somehow there's a sense of closure weighing heavily on her even though this should be the happiest day of her life, the start of a brand new life with her husband.

"I wish it could always be like this," Rebecca tells him.

"I do too."
