The bottle was supposed to point at someone like Finn or Puck. Not at Blaine. That was supposed to happen when it was his turn. What’s worse is that Blaine’s not supposed to be kissing Rachel like his very life depended on it. And then everyone’s laughing like this is the natural order of things, another boy that Kurt was falling head over heels in love with is making out with Rachel. And then they’re pulling apart, both with goofy grins on their faces and Kurt feels completely brittle when Blaine picks up the bottle to spin it.
Everyone acts like nothing’s wrong, like everything is normal, and Kurt’s not sure how he should feel when Blaine spins the bottle and it lands on Quinn. The two lean forward and kiss one another. It’s chaste and emotionless but everyone’s making comments and giggling. Yet Kurt knows what he saw and he can see the way that Rachel’s eyeballing Blaine.
When Blaine throws an arm over his shoulders and pulls him closer, Kurt acts like everything’s okay even though he feels as if he’s shattering into a million tiny pieces. Later when they’re all leaving, Kurt pastes a bright and fake smile on his face and hugs Rachel as if they’re still best friends. It’s not until he sees Blaine sleeping in his bed, or more accurately passed out in his bed, that Kurt thinks that maybe it’s not such a big deal.
Deep down inside though, Kurt knows the truth. What happened last night is a huge deal but he’s just going to pretend that it was nothing.
