Hmm...Fifty entries already? I guess it makes sense. Had this journal for a year and a half now. Doesn't seem like it's been that long though. But a number of things don't seem like they've been that long. "Time flies when you're having fun" or some such poetic hyperbole

Ah, in that case, I'll be happy to join you for a few games. But do you mind if I bring another, more reluctant player who needs to shake some cobwebs off his game also? Thank you. But it's been a number of years now. I've been past grieving for a while now. It just took me a while longer to go back to things that remind me of her.
[OOC: I'm actually planning on Kiraku trying to do exactly that. However...his great-grandmother became estranged with her family back in Wales, because before she ended up in Japan, she was actually already married, to a diplomat, and had a daughter with him. But it was an unhappy marriage of simple convenience for the diplomat. However, while traveling to Japan with her husband, she ended up falling in love with a Japanese businessman and left her husband for him. Kiraku's mother's family resulted from that. She tried to get her daughter to come and stay with them, but she refused, taking her father's side, and eventually grew up to become a bigot that hates Japan and Japanese people. Which Kiraku will get to look forward to dealing with when they get to the UK. A great-aunt that thinks he's the scum of the Earth. Just because I enjoy tormenting my characters. ^^;]

Good good. And of course not. The more the merrier. I never really have had such a person in my life, but I am glad that you can return to those things you shared. I think that would make her happiest
(ooc: great minds! and especially back then it would be even harder as it would be back in Japan during a time when halfs were a great deal more frowned upon than now adays. But yes! Torment Kiraku and even more torment, if that English tennis rival ended up being related somehow. )

.....I still really miss her. I'm sure that will never change though. But...I do have something else to look forward to during this tournament that I can remember her by. When we get to the UK, I'm going to find her family. She was originally from Wales, and when she came to live in Japan and married my great-grandfather, she lost contact with her family. But I'll find them and reconnect our extended family like she had wanted for so long.
[OOC: *nodsnods* His family had it easier than the average "haafus" since they were upperclass, but his grandmother still had trouble when she was growing up and got shunned alot simply because her mother was a foreigner. And damnit! I knew I was forgetting something! Still meant to send you that PM on that character. And honestly...I hadn't even thought to connect the two of them. And while it would add some more torment to things, because of the origins that I've thought up for this guy, I'm not so sure he would be connected with an upperclass family like the one Kiraku's great-grandmother came from. I dunno. I'll finish typing up the PM and send what I've got thought out for the guy and you can tell me what you think. ...Though speaking of him, he'll be joining in for this chess tournament also, naturally.]

[ooc: that's fine. And more snobby rich bonding time. Finding family]

[OOC: Kiraku says he'll help Atobe find his family in return for helping him find his own.]

I will make some calls and let you know. We'll see what my connections there can tell me.
[ooc: Atobe's will be infinately easier to find. After all, the Hapsburgs were royalty and there are still places in Austria that are considered theirs despite not being royals since the early 1900s]
