Comic-Con 2009

Procrastination is a bitch, and typing with bandaids on is also a pain in the butt. My cat just knicked me on my ring finger and my index and thumb both have the nail dangerously close to ripping off. D| But I had tofu lasagna and now I have some mocha frappichino so... Things are better and this is me rambling before I actually get down to the point of this post which is Comic-Con pictures and more ramblings. Yoshaaaaaaa.

A brief note, all these pictures are from Saturday because that's the only day I went with a camera. To sum up Friday? I met with a lot of different artists whom were sort of my mingle buddies throughout the weekend. +_+

Saturday morning, I wandered into the con to see the Mideval Demonstration. I was greatly amused and pleased with my timing. |3 Not that you can see it very well, but the display behind the demonstration was the ghost busters vehicle. The table in front of me was a whole bunch of free-bees and good stuff.

One of the fellow con-goers in the city I've gotten to know over the years. Her little brother went to my high school and oddly enough, I met him and became friends with him while being unaware of this fact for awhile until we actually got talking about conventions. Oh yeah, the dealer in the back there is Artist's Emporium. Wonderful wonderful art supplies place. c:

This is a female!Deadboltpool! I think? D: Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this. Thank you Soni~ <33 I really loved her costume though. You could see that she made it herself and it was really quite an outstanding job. The little SuperGirl walking just adds something extra to the picture.

The Riddler, a Joker, Batman and another Joker. c: The Riddler is captian_falcon.

Gosh, this reminds me how much of a procrastinator I am. Anyways, these costumes were super sexy. Next year, next year I will try to join them with epic Star Wars costumes. All three were made completely from scratch. I missed getting Vicky with her fem!Darth Vader though. :<

I kept running into this guy throughout the con, and we'd always end up talking about how he made his costume. Apparently he was going for a Archem's Asylum look but not wanting to expose his mid-riff, he settled on mixing it with the movie version. All in all, a pretty original concept of the Scare Crow~!

I think I fangasm'd when I saw this Sally, though I just sort of ran up to her asked for her picture then ran away again. |D

Candid!Con shot. Who can you spot?

I was not expecting to see such a large chunk of schoolmates at this con. I think... Sarah is on the left (Art Major classmate), dunno and then... Mark. I was surprised he recognized me actually because he approached me originally and was all, "SUP? Watch this movie. >:< *thrusts card in face*". Then again, it may have been because I was wondering around with Michelle by this point and all three of use had Drama class together. All their outfits were absolutely fab though.

Lady_Quita as a Paladon from WOW, right? Right? D|;;; I only know my FFXI.

Picture of picture taking.

And then the costume, itself. Poison Ivy~~ There was a lot of versions running around the con but this concept was simple yet very much beautiful.

The Questioooooon~. I... I don't think I have his lj account added if he does have one. D: Or I'm just generally blind. Face in the back was blurred to the max because it was... a really kind of off putting expression.

Haha~ This girl was so cute. This picture does no justic though. We bonded briefly around the time this image was taken over Alice In Wonderland and then she found me again later and demanded my email. XD It felt kind of reversed. She was all giddy over the dormouse when it was really I who should have been all fangirl mode--hofjdslksfho Dad turned the channel and now there is Star Wars on. *^*--But yeah, when she asked what my name was, she totally went 'afhoidfhWHAT?' and then I was all 'What? D:' and then we found out we share the same name but with one variation in the spelling.

YOU CAN'T HAVE AN ADAM WEST AT A CONVENTION WITHOUT 60s BATMAN. D:< This guy was just awesome. He was so eager to stop and pose for me.

The only Team Fortress Costume at the con. While Ai-kon was totally overrun with it, this Scout had the base all to himself, so photo. He also had a bat in his bag. That minor detail just... So good.

Hasaoooooooo from .Hack//GU. He was browsing over the my little ponies and old old old action figures and childhood memories before I pulled him away for this shot. The costume was made entirely by him~.

afhodsho Bob. I love this shot, it makes him look like an utter drama queen. The fact that he also did HalloweenTown!Roxas for Halloween was an appropriate concept. So many good costumes and there's still more to follow below. oh pfft, I didn't even notice the chick with the Darth Maul face make-up in the back until just now. Sweet.

LEGO STORMTROOPERS! Who says you need to have a pro costume to be popular? These guys were amazing. Cardboard boxes for the win.

So here we have a Moogle!Girl and a Winged Monkey from the Wizard of Oz. The contrast between the two works strangley well and... The monkey. He was very much in character as he made threats at me with his banana.

A pirate crew! While most of these costumes I think were purchased, I still wanted a shot. When I went to go ask though, the guy on the far right turned around and made me jump. His contacts caught me off guard but I still managed to ask. The one standing beside him seemed to be one of the louder more in charge types, commanding the crew and acting very much the part of a pirate. Going 'Arr!' and such all over the place.

S-s-s-s-s-SPAWN. Yeah maaaaan. My childhood right here. Never did watch the tv show much because my mom would always catch us and exclaim that it was too violent. We ended up getting our hands on one of the comics though. I think... It was too long ago for me to remember. D: But we did have an action figure of him and I'm pretty sure we still do.

I couldn't figure out how to get the flash to work. ;a; But it's Nightcrawler. A nightcrawler that I was rushing over to snatch before he wandered off.

Ffffuckyes Pacman. I had to quickly snatch a shot of him before he disappeared into the bathroom. |D

I don't know which character this is but she had a toaster. c: I was impressed with the details regardless.

This Hellboy was awesome. He was in the cosplay contest but the stage was so poorly lit that I had to chase him down halfway through to get this. There's an Ash from Evil Dead chilling down there. He had the chainsaw and everything.

Another one I had to chase down after the contest. Doc Oc. Extremely impressed with his arms, I am. By this point we were trying to manage some last minute shopping.

And Sveeeeeeeeeeeeeen~ I keep running across this guy at the cons and everytime he's so surprised that someone recognizes him. XD;; He probably hasn't come to recognize my face yet, because I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who runs up to him and asks for a hug each time.

PURCHASES!

Tofu!Bunny = $40
I've been eyeing this thing since Ai-Kon so I finally broke down and bought it. It's so comfortable to sleep with. It's just the right size to wrap my arm around and squeeze close during the night. I've tried with my body pillow but it's not nearly as nice as it is with this thing. Plus, this is way cuter. And a bunny. So... yeah. Totally worth it.

I didn't realize until after I took this picture that my purchases include what I'm planning to cosplay from this upcoming year. |D; We have an Isaac & Miria Pin from Baccano! Peter, Alice and Ace Pin from Heart no Kuni no Alice. And lastly a cellphone strap of the Pandora Emblem from Pandora Hearts. There was a silver backpack with Oz's face on it, but I have my lovely Black Cat messenger bag already and it was just... too much silver. I was far happier to make use of a more general fandom thing. Eventually I will remove the little cellphone fabric thing so I can just keep it on the metal part. No idea what to actually do with this though since I don't own a cellphone.

THIS WAS PURCHASED AS COSPLAY REF. But the guy at the booth just recognized me for buying these guys. He even called me back when he thought he found another. XD; Next year, I think I'll invest in some Storm Troopers while I'm in the Tusken Raiders outfit... JUST TO THROW HIM OFF.

And one shot of me. Durp durp. We were giving away pop drinks (Sprite), various Lays chips and cheezies but we only had 20 kids come to the door so I was TRES DISAPPOINTED. Whatever though, that just meant more goodies for everyone else in the hosue. There's so many houses on my street that love Halloween but it's always disappointing to see the numbers drop year after year. :<

So yeah, that's Comic-Con all summed up. One other little bonus thing about the whole event though was one kind in one of the dealer booths. We instantly recognized each other on Friday and got talking--And it was bugging the hell out of me because I knew I recognized him, but I couldn't put a name to the face, or where I might have met him.
On Saturday, we got talking again and then finally he asked me where we knew each other from and I was totally clueless on it. XD So for awhile we just sort of stood there trying to figure it out and then we got talking about work. He asked if maybe I knew him from EB Games, in which I didn't. So he asked where I worked and I told him my prior more publicly... Zestos, where I was seen and interracted with the public instead of sitting in a cubicle all day or running around a warehouse. I don't think he could figure out who I was with the wigs I wore throughout the weekend but I'm pretty sure that's how we know each other.
There was one day, a sunday, where I was working by myself there and there was just a huge rush of people. D: Sometimes you get the impatient customers who get tired of waiting and walk out on you, and that day, I'm pretty sure he ended up doing that. He was enough of a regular that I could recognize him amongst some of the other faces. But yeah, that particular Sunday, he ended up coming back around 5 PM to get his order. We ended up talking for a bit while I made up his order. It's really odd how sometimes people just connect without needing to know anything deeper about each other. When you do get that opportunity to know them a little better, it's even stranger that you find similar interests and qualities.

...Man, I ramble a lot. I guess that's what I get for not updating much at all lately.

Next Year. Comic-Con 2010. Tusken Raiders. I'll make sure to get a picture taken with the Ewoks. >:3
