I see what you mean about the "knifing."

"Isn't it ironic that the success of women in academia is killing America's favorite sport"
Even aside from the other ideas, this one is especially and amazingly and also quantifiably wrong. Male on male collisions are causing concussions, thanks. (putting to the side the issue of really awful sports injuries in young female athletes. or how sad major injuries in the careers of the young can be, which is: very sad, utterly aside from gender.) Other than the *headdesks* of course that this prompted, in which case yes: women in sport are causing concussion, if only the Patriarchy didn't do things like it does! The Patriarchy is the fucking worst.

but you knew that.

anyway, that wasn't the point. the point is: you are right, they are wrong.

I'm far less a sports fan of any sort than I am someone who minds watching a few sports marginally less than she did in high school.

YESSSS. you're welcome.

non-Hockey term for puck-bunnies

Cleat-chasers, in baseball.

In any case, it is apparently entirely the fault of women that our sports have not, in the few decades since Title IX came into play, been able to create a sporting world on the same level of men's professional leagues.

Yo, self-help. Everyone can pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. That's how the social world works, and also the economic one, and we should never think that other, especially historically-disadvantaged others, might need something more than new shoelaces. (well, that metaphor fell apart. what part of the shoe is the bootstrap, anyway.) But for effing real, this is not the political future of our nation: this people playing a game, can we just act like that's a good thing, and one that we all desire anyway?

Because that's not passion or anything. Who cares than men's sports have a massive monetary advantage, both professionally and at the high school and college level, despite Title IX?

THE FUCKING CASH HEY.

see above, but can't we just, for one SECOND act like the sport cartels of the world have been developed for very efficiently taking our money and providing entertainment, and that these cartels are in no way a symbol of us/our communities.our nations? They are boundless money, unhinged from society, and they can fucking well show it by ploughing that money back into radical causes like equal sporting opportunity for women. See, this is my basic rant, but the last clause is specially formulated to give us optimism! /dumb

NO SUCH THING AS "OVERTHINKING" PLEASE TALK TO ME ALWAYS. OTHER PEOPLE TOO I GUESS.

okay okay I can even deal with the "female fans" thing, because being "fans" is apparently beyond the reach of single-celled organisms like sports radio hosts, but come on. My cash is good, my cheers are good, my faith in some truly bad teams (and a few good ones) is never ever going to be lessened by the type of underwear I have on. you have got me all het up about this, and so clearly: these people were the worst.

also I have this AU of LADIES like "Y: the Last Man" except without any drama, there're just not dudes around for a while. and I practiced it during the Germany-Greece match, and it was amazing. So you need to have smart thoughts so I can hang my stupid-as-shit ideas about hairbands on them. THANK YOU.
