Title: Taking a Trip
Disclaimer: Hagane no Renkinjutsushi is not mine, but I think I deserve credit for this version of Roy. :D
Rating: PG-13 for language
Warnings: shounen ai/BL, AUish
Author's Note: I hopelessly love the idea of Roy being half Xingese (maybe the fact that I'm half Chinese has something to do with it), so here is part 3 in the Xing!verse. I don't know how long this verse is going to last, exacly, but I'll keep putting them out as long as the bunnies keep nibbling. xD;
...
In his normal whirlwind of curses and blonde hair and jacket, Ed stormed into Roy's office, scowling angrily and taking it out on the door as he flung it closed behind him. "Bastard!" he growled accusitorily, slamming his hands on Roy's desk, and, for a moment, the colonel was reminded of the "dog" to which he so often compared the younger alchemist.
"What have I done this time, Fullmetal?" he asked with a wave of a gloved hand, completely unperturbed by Ed's outburst. He had been called worse things for extremely small offenses, so he didn't feel any desperate need to worry.
Ed crossed his arms and seemed to put a great deal of energy into glaring angrily at the older man. "Is it true, what I'm hearing?"
"...I might have a clue of what you're talking about if you elaborated just a little bit," Roy replied flatly, clueless of what Ed might have been referencing.
Ed rolled his eyes and continued to glare angrily. "Don't play dumb, you absolute bastard! You know what I'm talking about!" His face nearly radiated emotion and anger, but, as Roy looked closer, he realized that there was something else, too, and he began to think maybe the situation was worse than he thought it might have been.
"Fullmetal..." he said carefully, "I...really don't know what you're talking about."
The younger alchemist gave Roy a final glare before his face softened into a look the rivaled that of a kicked puppy and he dropped his head to look at his feet, letting his arms fall to his sides, hands clenched in fists. "You're going to Xing, aren't you? You're leaving me here..." His voice gave out, and Roy was shocked to realize that Ed was crying.
Standing, he hurried to the boy's side. Placing hands on his shoulders, he asked worriedly, "Fullmetal...Edward...what's wrong?"
Ed swatted his hands away, shying from the touch. "Get away from me, you bastard. You're leaving me...you're moving to Xing, don't deny it! Hawkeye told me!"
Roy softened with relief, leaning over to smile at Ed. "Fullmetal, you've got it all wrong. I'm being sent to Xing for a month. On a mission for the military. I'm not leaving forever."
Ed met his eyes, a look of surprise newly plastered onto his tear-stained face. "But...I thought..."
"You must've misunderstood," Roy assured, placing his hands back on Ed's shoulders. "I would never leave you forever, not in a million years." He leaned in a placed a soft kiss on the younger alchemist's lips before pulling away. "All right?"
Ed sniffed and crossed his arms, putting an annoyed face back on and quickly wiping away his tears. "Well, you're still leaving me for a month, you bastard." He walked over to perch himself on the edge of Roy's desk and look over at his papers. "When are you going?"
"Friday," Roy replied ruefully. "I know it's soon."
Ed slouched and pouted. "Not that I care when you're going to be around, bastard colonel."
Roy had to smile at this, as only seconds ago, the younger alchemist had been crying over it, but he had something else to get to. Shuffling his papers, he feigned forgetfulness. "Oh, that's right, Fullmetal, I forgot to tell you. I found another lead for you on the stone, if you're interested."
Ed perked up. "Oh? Tell me."
Roy held up the paper he had supposedly just found and looked over it. "It seems that some new research has just come out that suggest that a certain set of underground ruins may hold new information into the creation of the stone."
"Ruins where?" Ed asked impatiently, rapping his fingers against the desk.
Roy blinked, continuing his act. "Oh. The ruins are right outside of Zhongyangjing, the capital city of Xing."
Ed stared a moment, then broke into a grin. "Bastard. You planned this, didn't you?"
Roy smirked. "Why, Fullmetal, I'm insulted that you would even think such a thing."
"Aw, shut up, bastard colonel," Ed replied, leaning back on the desk to kiss Roy, hard, on the lips. He then hopped off the desk and hurried towards the door. "See ya later, anyway."
"What's the hurry, Fullmetal?" Roy called after him.
Ed paused and grinned over his shoulder at the colonel. "I've got to go home and pack."
