I did this meme approximately three years ago (oh god) in January 2011, but I figured I'd do it again since I've gotten into new things and made new friends since then!

Pick a character and I will give and explain the top five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them ( Read more... )

Yabu Kota
① He doesn't overthink things. He tends to go with his gut instinct or his first feeling, and he trusts his own judgement. He doesn't spend a lot of time thinking before he makes decisions, and if it's a big decision, he might get perplexed with how much he has to think.
② He doesn't have much of a brain-to-mouth filter. Going along with not overthinking, he doesn't think before he talks much, either. When he says an opinion, even if it's a negative one, or when he makes fun of someone, he doesn't really worry about hurting other people's feelings, because he doesn't mean it to be offensive, so why would anyone be offended?
③ He's generally a positive person. When he says possibly offensive things (calling people fat, making fun of someone's costume or hair or performance, etc), he doesn't think other people will be offended because he's just stating how he feels, not trying to be negative. He likes all his bandmates, so he would never dream of insulting them, and likewise, he tends to see everything else half-full rather than half-empty. He doesn't let tiring or stressful situations get him down, and he doesn't let anyone's criticisms bother him.
④ He thinks he's pretty darn awesome. From everyone fawning over him as a small child to his current usually featured spot in JUMP's singles, Yabu thinks he's a pretty talented, pretty attractive, pretty all around okay guy. More than arrogance, it's just self confidence and his honest opinion that he's doing pretty okay in life.
⑤ He's unexpectedly responsible. Yabu sees himself sort of as the unnamed leader of Hey! Say! JUMP as the oldest member, and he keeps the other members, both his friends in BEST and the younger ones in 7, in mind at most times. He also is capable of reflecting on his past choices and actions, though maybe only slowly and a long time after they happen. He is open to change and to growing up, and he accepts his mistakes and does learn from his experiences, even if it's slowly.

Thank you! ♥ You too!
