Floor 2 - But once there...

Nov 12, 2008 23:24

Okay. I found a place to live. And a job. I'm not going to starve anytime soon.

So why the hell do I want to punch a wall so badly? I should be glad to be getting a break...

Tch. Anybody feel like sparring?

his evoker is dusty, restless

Thus newly arrived, and still warmongering, for it?

Surely sparring can wait.

I know this'll sound dramatic, but I've had my fill of war. I don't particularly want to go back to it. I'm just finding myself with a lot of free time on my hand.

If you have other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.

You sound like Mitsuru...

...I'll take the sparring, thanks.

No truer sword than words, they say.

Never been my forte. You have no idea how true that is. I'd rather stick with my fists.

And they with you, I trust, for all the will that hands are given - and many a painter would say such will is great.

...What?

I would hope my hands would want to stay attached to me...but is that really what he could be saying?

Is that not the excuse of all the great masters? "Oh, I did not paint so and so, my hands worked on their own?" And of writers, too?

I must ask whether you will use the same excuse, should your sparring one day lead to another's injury - that you meant no ill by it, yet that your hands followed their own accord?

...

Trust me, when I injure something, I mean to do it. I've never been so careless as to hurt someone I'm just sparring with.

Then you are a mercenary warrior by trade?

Well, I was both a student and a fighter. But there were lots of students...there were only ten people who could fight. And that was at full strength - for a long time, it was just two of us.

So yes, I suppose you could say that was what I spent most of my time on.
