What's New

Pretty boring break for me. We took a week off of work to go to Florida and visit the in-laws. That was fun. Other than that we've been working and I've been re-reading the Silmarillion. I asked my parents for several books for Christmas, but for some reason I haven't gotten my package from her yet. It was supposed to be here today. Blasted campus mail!
Speaking of work, Jameson got a new job! He is now a fry cook at Doc's Grill. I ate their with my brother and sister-in-law a couple weeks ago and the food is very good. You should go try it sometime. He gave A&W his two weeks notice, but for two weeks he will be a fry cook at both Doc's and A&W. He's very busy. Doc's Grill is a big improvement for us because he'll be making $6.50 an hour insted of the measley $5.15 we make at A&W.
I was hoping to re-read the Silmarillion, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and all five Harry Potter books over the break. Ambitious, I know, but I've read way more books than that in a summer so I thought that if I made a serious effort I could do it. Unfortunately, I didn't make a serious enough effort and so I've succeeded only in reading the Silmarillion. Oh well, I have a few days left. Maybe I'll make it through the Hobbit by the time school starts. Then I'll probably be too busy to read much (for pleasure that is; I'm sure I'll have to read lots of textbooks). Stupid school.
I'm still working at A&W. It's not great, but it could be worse. I need to keep working because Jameson and I spent about $800 in the last week or two. It wasn't like we wasted it on presents though. The van broke down and we had to pay about $300 to get it fixed and almost that much to rent a car to drive to Florida. We don't have anything we need to buy for a while though, so we can work on getting our bank account back above a couple hundred dollars.
We had a little New Year's Eve get-together at the apartment. We meant to invite Misa and Chad but couldn't find their phone number. Anyone have it? So it was just us, Erastos, Sylvie, Dennis, and his sister. We had a lot of food (yay!) and watched "Dead Alive" and "Dick". Both movies were a little goofy and a little gross, but no one wanted to watch any of our movies I guess, so we watched those. I also saw King Arthur the other day. I had wanted to see it for a long time but found myself bored during it. I didn't find myself falling in love with the characters like I thought I would. Lancelot ws a jerk and Arthur a traitor. I didn't like what they ddi to the story either. It was more like "A guy and some knights" than King Arthur. He wasn't even king for most of the movie, Lancelot died in battle before the marriage of Arthur and Gueniviere (I butchered that name didn't I?). They changed the entire story and just used the same names. Oh well, that's Hollywood.
In addition to the van breaking, I've had a lot of problems with the lappy (computer). It was going really slow and I got rid of some viri but couldn't get rid of all the spyware. My brother suggested that we save all our important files and wipe the hardrive. I didn't want to do that, but I trust my brother. Erastos tried to fix it instead and he got rid of like 400 spyware things. That seemed to work for like 2 days, but then the computer was crawling again so they restarted and it wouldn't start. So I lost all my files and the hardrive was wiped without backups. I lost all my school stuff, but I don't care about that much since I probably wouldn't look at it again. I lost some of my poetry though, and that I am sad about. I also lost all my pictures, and that is very sad, although most of them I still have hard copies of. I lost alot of pictures that I ripped off the internet, but I guess I can find them again, except that one of the sites is blocked by DormNet. Sadness. But Erastos is great for doing all this work on my computor for free.
If you actually read all of this, congratulations. I shall now buy you a candy bar. Unless a lot of people actually read it (which I doubt) and then I'd have to give everyone a skittle or something. Anyway, that's my break so far. I shall now shut up.
