It's been a while since I posted, eh? Well, let me tell you why: It's a combination of schoolwork, a job, family, and a little website called Mugglenet. Everything is going pretty well for me. Jameson and I are doing well. We were actually able to get some time off for Christmas, so we'll be going to Florida. I have added a writing minor, so next semester I will be taking advanced composition and poetry writing. I am also taking international law & diplomacy, Romans, and that WINGS conference, the latter mainly to make sure I have 12 hours so I can keep my scholarship. I'm not too worried about finals. There are a few I probably need to do well on, but I am not studying very hard. The only thing that is not going great is my spiritual life. It's kind of bleh. The prayer group girls really encourage me and I look forward to our meeting every week, but it seems I'm the only one. For the second time in a row last week, everyone ditched except me, Ashley, Micaela, and Abigail. Well, actually Abigail was sick and didn't come until we were getting ready to leave, so she kind of ditched too.
We watched "Saved!" last night. I didn't like their portrayal of Christians. Obviously, Hillary Fay was the "evil legalistic Christian girl" but I don't think Mary was so great either. She never seemed remorseful for her sin, she just tried to cover up her pregnancy and the overall message of the film seemed to be, "Do whatever you want b/c God will forgive you and after all, Jesus wants you to be happy." What a load of crock! A lot of people buy into this feel good Christianity, but even if Jesus wants us to be happy, that doesn't mean he wants us to do whatever makes us happy. Obviously there are lots of things that don't make us happy but that we need to do anyway. Yeah, God forgives us, but that doesn't give us an excuse to do whatever we want. Christianity was never supposed to be that easy. I think the movie presents a bad example to non-Christians. I do, however, think it is kind of worth watching for Christians because it really shows a lot of the things that go on in the church and helps me think about my own hypocrisy.
If anyone is going to be in Searcy over New Years, let me know. We MIGHT be having some sort of get-together.
