She had been played. She was so angry as she strode along the street back to the place the boss had given her.

B and her boy toy had played her good. Here she was thinking she was finally in control, finally had something that was precious to B and instead she found she had been played for a fool.

But she had been suckered in again, revealed too much, never seen the double-cross coming.

So instead of getting what was rightfully hers she was scurrying back home.

She smiled cruelly in the shop window.

Who cared if they knew, even though they thought they knew what was coming, they didn’t.

She’d get what was hers in the aftermath. Who knows maybe she would get the boss to spare a couple of B’s loser friends so she could have some fun.

She moved forward slightly and then winced as the floorboard squeaked slightly.

Red turned.

“Too late Red,” she smirked. Plunging the cream pie right into Willow’s unsuspecting face.

Red spluttered indignantly, “Ah gross,” then her eyes widened.

Faith span, but she was too late, she never saw them coming.

Two freezing cold cream pies hit her square in the face and chest.

“Ahhh. Cold fricking cold,” she screamed as she desperately wiped the ice and cream from her face only to be greeted with the sight of a partially frozen Xander doing the snoopy dance just in front of the chest freezer where he has laid in wait.

She could hear Willow in hysterics beside her and despite herself couldn't help smiling.

“All bow down to the mighty Xander, victor in these Gladiatorial games.” He intoned a big smirk plastered on his face.

Willow bowed and grovelled before Xander.

“Oh merciful victor please be kind to your childhood friend be kind to your pitiful foes.”

Xander looked askance in Faith’s direction.

“No pleading for mercy wench,” he smiled.

Faith’s eyes narrowed and Xander blanched and shifted nervously on his feet as if preparing for flight.

“Oh, I have another reward in mind for the victor, how about you help me clean this cream off and I help get you warmed up,” she leered.

Xander’s smile broadened as he came over and swept her from her feet.

“See you later Red,” she smiled over Xander’s shoulder at Willow who was pretending to gag as she’s carried from the kitchen.

Faith pulled back an astonished look on her face. Well she hadn’t seen that coming, not in a million years.

She had just been sitting on the park bench in central park minding her own business whilst they waited for nightfall. Some exchange of magical contraband was supposedly going down and tweedy had decided they needed to put a stop to it before it fell into the wrong hands.

He hadn’t asked but she had come anyway anxious for at least a little bit of excitement. She could tell he had been quietly pleased at the company.

She had been in the process of re-crossing her legs for the sixteenth times cause she knew the squeak of the leather was driving him mad.

Then the next second.

Bam.

He was all over her leaning in and working the kiss real good.

She’d been shocked her eyes widening in horror as her mind went into denial.

And then just like that he stopped, just as it was getting good as well which made her even angrier.

“Jesus, what the hell do you think you’re doing!!!” she exclaimed pushing him off.

She cast around looking for something to drink, anything just to clear the taste. Sure she’d said some things back in the day when she had first met him but that had been the old her talking. Plus she was sort of taken now.

“Sorry,” Giles replied before he continued to fiddle with his glasses

“The police, “ he motioned with his head in the direction of two faint shapes now lost in the gloom.

“Couldn’t let them see you until Willow finished working the devil machine,” he continued.

“And you thought playing tonsil tennis was the correct distraction, “ she snorted.

“We didn’t have much time, it was the only thing I could think of at such short notice,” he complained.

“What you really needed to do was this,” she smirked as she leant in.

Giles fell of the bench as he scrambled to get away from her, before looking up and scowling in response to her laughter.

“Faith, that’s not fair,” he admonished although there was a smile on his face now.

“Here,” she gave him a hand up.

They sat in companionable silence on the seat for a few moments.

“Your’re a good kisser, “ she finally opinioned as she turned to look at him.

He smiled sadly, “Thanks.”

“One thing though,” she said smiling.

“What?” Giles replied.

“Not one word of this must get back to Xander,” she replied.

“Surely you not worried about him being jealous,” Giles exclaimed looking horrified and perplexed at the same time.

“Jealously, Xander, of course not, no offence Giles but I doubt you’d survive some of the stuff Xander and me pull.” She replied stretching contently.

“Please, too much information, I swear I live in hell, “ Giles replied colouring badly. She could detect a trace of amusement in his voice.

“Na, that’s not what I’m worried about, it’s the other stuff he will pull if he finds out.”

Giles quirked a questioning eyebrow in her direction.

“He’s a real devious one my man for getting his own back and he still owes me one for the twinkie incident.” She smiled remembering the relish she had put into the plan and the horror with which Xander had exclaimed upon his own discovery of it.

She shivered partly in genuine fear and in delightful anticipation of the revenge he had sworn. She always loved the makeup portion after they had run themselves out either chasing or being chased after the latest prank.

“Ah I see, you have my utmost discretion.” Giles tapped the side of his nose.

She never saw Xander’s revenge coming either. The aftermath had been fun though.

************************************

She swung a punch to the right and connected with the sucker sending him crashing into a gravestone. Flicking her head back she busted the nose of the assailant behind her and finally free was able to grab and stake him through the heart.

She could see B and Xander engaged in a stand-up smack down with the big demon dude that Giles had warned them about. Their figures were shadow like as they danced around in the billowing smoke that had accompanied the demons summoning.

She dusted a vamp that was sneaking up on Vi as she rushed past.

B was sent spinning to one side by the demons huge apelike arms.

Xander leapt in the way and was brushed aside landing in a crumpled heap.

Her heart stopped.

Then she was off screaming, throwing herself in the way as the demon bore down on him sending a flurry of blows into the body of the demon. All sense of self-preservation gone in a red haze of anger.

She caught sight of movement in the corner of her vision and instinctively kicked out at it.

Suddenly she felt a blossoming pain in her side.

Looking down she could see a knife embedded there.

She looked around and saw Buffy’s anguished face.

“Oh Faith, god I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you, I didn’t see you, “ she sobbed.

Faith looked quizzically at the knife again.

“Well I’ll be dammed.”

B had stabbed her in the same spot last time.

She hadn’t seen that coming.

She fainted.

**********************************

She fidgeted nervously as she adjusted her appearance in the mirror for what seemed like the hundredth time, the others would all be here by now. She wondered where Willow and the other bridesmaids had got.

Willow and B had left a couple of minutes before too deal with a brief slaying emergency. B had been most insistent that Faith would not be dealing with that today especially since she….

Faith smiled remembering the tears in B’s eyes. Kind of made her feel happy in a weird sort of way.

She shivered, as the temperature in the room seemed to drop a few degrees.

“You look lovely,” a woman’s voice from behind her said.

Faith shivered, her hand already reaching for the stake hidden under her white gown.

No reflection.

She whirled stake out and stopped.

“No need for that,” Anya smiled sadly.

Her form wavered slightly as though being blown by a light breeze.

“Just thought I would drop in and say hi,” she floated over.

“Anya, Xander’s in there, although if you want to talk to him it’s a bit crowded right now. You want me to get someone go fetch him?” she asked.

“No, that’s alright. It’s you I came to see,” Anya replied.

“Right.” Faith replied non-plussed. She couldn’t recall how many times she had spoken to Anya but it could certainly be counted in single digits.

“Okay, what do you want Anya. Come to work you vengeance?” she snarled back unable to keep a tremor out of her voice. She was so close it wasn’t going to be taken from her now.

Anya laughed,” Oh no, dead remember and ex-vengeance demon I’ll have you know.”

“Just came to pay my respects and pass on a couple of messages, plus I talked to Rupert about his financial mishandling of the legacy I left him. He was really put out I can tell you, but I set him straight, “ she replied a mischievous tone in her voice.

“Okay,” she replied.

“I’m happy for you I really am,” Anya smiled wistfully in her direction.

“But?” she asked forcing the word out from between her gritted teeth.

“If you harm him again, hurt him in any way, then even though I’m dead I will find some way to come back and kick your arse.” Anya growled.

Then she leant forward and Faith had the impression of a ghostly kiss upon her cheek.

Anya whispered in her ear.

“I am really happy for both of you, you know. I can tell you make each other both very happy. Plus the sex antics you get up to all the time is so entertaining I’m glad all my efforts did not go to waste. He’s lucky he found someone like you, experienced I mean.”

Anya stood back and Faith could see the tears in her eyes. Damn if she couldn’t feel them in hers as well. Her makeup was going to be a mess B was going to kill her .She hiccupped.

“Take care of him Faith he’s so very special.”

The spirit wavered before blinking out in a spark of light.

“I promise Anya,” she whispered to the empty room.

She had expected her Wedding day to be eventful but she hadn’t seen this coming.

The door burst open and Willow and B and Kennedy burst in giggling.

B looked at her and suddenly concern flashed across her face.

“Faith what’s wrong?” She asked.

“Nothing B, nothing at all, “ she answered a smile plastered on her face.

She could hear the wedding march wafting down from above.

“Ready, “ Angel poked his head around the door, stepped through and offered her his arm.
