miracle February weekend

David called it my miracle weekend. anything could happen! if I had known ahead of time, I would have planned better.

what did happen:

--> yet another trip to urgent care! (this time for me.)
--> homemade waffles!
--> a brand new 2-quart saucepan with lid!
--> a wicker basket sort of chest thing with lid* in which to store our sheets!
--> Sequence!
--> eagle watching by the river!
--> 10 Days in Asia!
--> homemade onion soup!

*it's really a lot nicer than that description indicates, but the key is the ventilation inherent with the wicker.

really, onion soup is astonishing enough all by itself. not only was onion soup cooked in our house, but David ended up cooking most of it, since I sliced a chunk of skin off my left thumb while slicing the onions. I didn't even get partway through the soup. after I finally realized it wasn't going to stop bleeding for a while, David wrapped my thumb in gauze and tape, and I stirred the soup. oh, and I shredded the cheese and talked to my mom on the phone, too.

we played, I think, three games of Sequence, too. we played Sequence years ago at a friend's house, and I liked it, but we had never gotten a round toit. while running errands on Saturday, we went to a local educational-type store where we had recently found 10 Days in Asia in stock, and David also picked up Sequence for me. how sweet. we played 10 Days on Saturday night. (David was tired of spending so much time in Europe.)

we had time also to wash a bunch of our sheets and put them away properly in the new trunk thing after I vacuumed it out. hopefully it will work well, because I've been looking for something like this for a very long time. it's hard to find things that are exactly what you're looking for, so I'm glad we went ahead and splurged on it right then and there.
