I would like to pretend this is interesting for someone else to read, but...

all too often my rambling thought patterns influence my writing, and I go off on a tangent or am entirely too verbose for the joke. so I decided to give it up. being interesting, that is.

have been sick, and so off my game. my scale is still showing a good loss, though, so I suppose I shouldn't be too discouraged. my goal this month is to lose five pounds, which is a fairly modest amount of weight loss. my more ambitious goal was to exercise a certain number of minutes this month, which I am unlikely to achieve at this point because of not having exercised since two Saturdays ago.

still, I will hang on to the victories. as of this morning, I have reached my January weight goal. yay! go me! I'll probably now revise my exercise goal to account for my time as a slug while still making an effort to be active for the rest of the month. I had hoped not to lose all my momentum after the December push to exercise every day, but I'm afraid that is, indeed, what has happened.

what's really going to suck is doing deadlifts for the "first time" again. I started in on a new weight lifting routine just before I got sick, and the first time I did the deadlifts for it, I was sore for DAYS. I'm not looking forward to that again, but that's what happens when I slack off. I've done deadlifts before, but possibly not with that much weight, so I guess I'll ease up this time and use the smaller weights.

in other weight-related news, I went shopping last night to check out Younkers' clearance racks. it's an easy trip to make, since I drive right by every day. I tried on a bunch of knit tops, though I couldn't find one that I liked for me unfortunately. this is unfortunate since they were all $8. I found some I liked, but none that had the right combination of size, color, style, and work-suitableness. still, I did find and buy a pair of black slacks for work for $10. considering I hope these slacks only fit for about 6-8 months, $10 ain't bad. I still need some more pants, and I would like to get a couple new shirts/sweaters for work.

funny to me, I wore a certain sweater to work yesterday. I've had this sweater for years and years and years, and though it's not my favorite, there wasn't anything particularly wrong with it, so I kept it for the odd occasion that I'd feel inclined to wear it. like yesterday. in the restroom mirror at work, though, I caught a brief glimpse of me in the sweater in profile, and had to take a second look. it is WAY too big [though it says it's a size medium], and looked baggy and unbecoming. SO, I finally have a good reason to chuck the sweater onto the "donate" pile, with a good heart.

of course, that means I'm now minus one thing to wear to work, and not being much of a clothes horse to begin with, that can be problematic. David and I are planning a trip for clothes shopping soon, but things keep cropping up, alas. like the Pampered Chef Party this Saturday evening. and next Saturday afternoon is Paddle Day at the Nature Center. and David's been sick, sick, sick! so maybe we'll go some Sunday. clothes, clothes, clothes!

get fit or have one
