anyhow, to recap, it's our understanding that Oberon has decided to strengthen Amber by testing the current scions, with war and conflict. there is some debate in PC circles as to whether this means he's out to kill us, or just to test us. for some in the family it will likely amount to the same thing.
oh, and Brand is dead.
so, lessee. we pretty much picked up where we left off, but I don't know that could possibly remember everything that happened in any sort of "order."
all I know is that currently, Delwin, Tanaquil, Colin, and Siofra are in Chaos at one of the lesser courts, asking the guardian who met them at the wall what could be offered in exchange for Fiona. Delwin offered himself, which Tanaquil and Siofra vehemently disagreed with. Tanaquil tried to trade a bunch of hand grenades for her [which would be fairly equivalent exchange, really]. and then Siofra traded a Trump of Oberon for her.
previous to that, Siofra found Brand in Shadow, via a Sidhe Lord, and brought him back to Amber. Delwin had trumped Siofra and showed her the super secret research base where the redheads were doing their investigation into using Blood of Amber to create new Patterns. at that time, Fiona told Delwin that she and Bleys had lost Brand and were going to go looking for him.
Siofra thought it would be cool to find Brand first. meanwhile, Tanaquil, who was out in Shadow researching the strange Shadow bubbles that we had discovered in the first session, ran across some strange creature looking for Someone of Amber. Siofra happened to trump Tanaquil right then, and ended up going with the creature instead of Tanaquil. Siofra realized the creature was Sidhe, and decided that if the Sidhe wanted someone of Amber, it wouldn't be a good idea to give them one. also, Siofra is busy building up favors. the Sidhe gave Brand to Siofra, she speculates because they didn't want to have a Pattern user near them and also because of a treaty agreement.
after Brand was brought to Amber, injured and unconscious, Bleys was brought to Amber in an attempt to negotiate an alliance with the redheads against Oberon. Bleys said he would have to consult with Fiona, and then admitted that he hadn't been able to reach her recently. he wouldn't admit where she went, though [Chaos, maybe? see above.], because he didn't want to admit who she was talking to [Chaosians, maybe?]. this led to the group including Colin, Tanaquil, Siofra, and Delwin deciding to go see if they could find Fiona, which led to a hellride to Chaos, leaving Geoffrey to watch over Brand.
Geoffrey then proceeded to kill Brand. while he was still unconscious. and burned the body. and then killed and burned the bodies of the people who helped him burn Brand's body.
there was much... mixed reaction to this OOC. in some ways, it's probably for the best that the most batshit crazy redhead is now gone. OOC. in-character, though, that's a member of the Royal Family! that's Chandra's uncle! much debate has been made about the actual willingness of Amberites to kill siblings and other family members. I am firmly in the camp that we don't kill each other unless necessary, and Chandra certainly isn't convinced yet that such a step would be required.
anyhow, the group brought Fiona back from Chaos intact. and boy isn't that embarrassing? but now there is in-game knowledge of Chaos. Siofra is going to grill Benedict about it. however, I decided after the first session that if Benedict wasn't going to be forthcoming about stuff, I would just have to go find out myself. which means I spent practically the entire session doing reeee- *yawn* -search. my character is 3rd in Warfare. I spent days poring over books. WTF?
but, as I explained to the GM, it was military research. I was looking in the most ancient of ancient texts and records to see if I could find places of strategic or powerful interest in Shadow, in hopes of digging up a hidey hole that Oberon might be in. trying to gain insights into the brain of Oberon, so we can start thinking about his tactics and begin making plans. being proactive, you see. then I took my short list off into Shadow and began searching for these places.
I haven't found a hiding place for Oberon yet [and really, if I found Oberon, I sure as hell don't have a plan for what to DO with him...], however, I have found some other very interesting things.
so far, in all of the strategically placed spots I singled out, I have found a Shadow dedicated to war prep for Oberon. I found one that is populated by people fanatically dedicated to Oberon, ready to go to war for the savior at any time. another one was a barren wasteland where one of the many weapons of mass destruction that were being developed had, well, um, oops! and so on. so that's what I'm doing for the present.
oh, and Colin. yeah, near the end of the last session, Colin went out to find himself an army. he had something specific in mind, which happened to involve Sidhe, though I don't think he knew that specifically IC. spriggans, I guess. so he got himself a bunch, but then later on, he found out that someone else was kind of attached to them and wanted them back.
Colin, through a series of events, decided he didn't want to keep them anymore. something about the fact that they eat people. the spriggans, on the other hand, really liked Colin. he fed them a lot more than their other master, and gave them live meat, too!
so Colin went with Siofra and Tanaquil to the place where Siofra had met the Voice of the Sidhe Lord about Brand, to give the spriggan back and square things with the vassal he stole them from. the Sidhe lord took them back in the "wrong" way, however. something about honor. he ended up killed and Colin got all his stuff. except the spriggans, which Colin made sure went back to the sidhe.
and that was about it. next session: July or August. looking forward to it.
