**I am really zonked tired. bed too late last night. and here I stayed home yesterday in part because I was totally exhausted.
**I am quite disappointed I didn't receive
this in the mail yesterday. maybe today. it's probably good I didn't read it, because Zorro's Fight for Life is a novel-length story, and I had stuff to do. but still...
**in theory, I like the idea of freezer on the bottom of the fridge unit, with the fridge part above. in practice... I now think having the freezer above is somewhat easier. sure, you have to bend over to get in the fridge, but it's a lot easier to keep the freezer organized. we have the equivalent of a chest freezer in the kitchen, and it's challenging to keep track of things.
**comments about the freezer stem from the fact that our freezer is yet again full and too unorganized to find anything. also, yesterday I cooked up some vegetable stock for future soups, and now I have to find a place to put it in the freezer.
**I made gnocchi for the first time yesterday. potato gnocchi. I will have to give it a try sometime soon, tossed with butter and garlic or something. they didn't seem so awesome yesterday, but we have a lot of it! [including some now in the freezer. see above.]
**as noted in a previous entry, the All-Story Weekly issue from August 9, 1919 recently sold on eBay for $2500. the August 23, 1919 issue is now up for auction, though this seller opened bidding for $5. I was momentarily tempted, but don't really need it and don't want to waste the money [the original story serialized in All-Story Weekly was later published all together as The Mark of Zorro, which I already have]. still... original!! $5!! but... no. I'm watching on the sidelines, though. four more days in the auction, and the bids are up to $23 with four people interested. we'll see how it turns out.
**now if, for example, the May-June 1922 issues of Argosy All-Story Weekly showed up... that would be another thing entirely.
**we have a masked ball coming up in a couple weeks at church, to kick off the canvass. as a board member, I feel I should be there. we don't have to wear costumes, but I think it would be fun. I know what I'd like to do, but I think the boots and the gloves would be difficult to come by.
**it's gotten cold all of a sudden. I don't mind, except now we have to decide how much we're going to worry about the very sorry plants we have in our backyard. also, apparently I won't be getting around to planting those hostas this year after all. poor things. I don't think I gardened for squat this year. too busy with other stuff.
**ye gods! that game's not dead yet? I posted replies to my threads a week ago, and nothing was astir until today. I think the horse is dead, kiddos. I'd suspect I killed it, but I'm aware it was on life support long before I arrived.
**speaking of other stuff, why are there so few weekends in the summer??
