I'm currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo. it's really a very good book. it helps that I read a summary of the plot, and I am able to consult a list of major characters and their corresponding relationships from time to time. and knowing whither the plot will eventually lead helps me stick with it when the telling wanders, as it often does in books written in this era.
David instead insists on watching the 2002 movie.
having now read through half the book, and watched the movie (sorta, over David's shoulder), I can say, don't watch the movie(s). or if you do, don't really think that what you're watching has much more in common with the book than a title and some character names.
