More stuff about Randy

tomorrow is payday, and I hope to be able to get him a pool this month. if we do, pictures will follow.

not sure if he's settling in more and therefore getting more relaxed about things like eating, or if he just really likes this new food. either way, he's very excited at mealtimes now, even jumping around sometimes. it's very cute. if it's the food that he likes, hopefully this new one will work better for him, because the first brand really wasn't a good match.

we were sitting in the TV room a few days back, going through papers and discussing stuff. we weren't paying much attention to the dog, which is why I suddenly looked over to see him with his nose in the cream cheese container on the coffee table, left from a recent snack, licking the cream cheese block.

he just walked right up, in front of both of us, and decided what was on the table smelled good and needed to be sampled! =)

of course, instead of scolding the dog, I burst out laughing. David shooed Randy off, then gave me a very aggrieved look. apparently laughing doesn't help.

we found out he's a poop eater. this was discovered when we needed to take a stool sample to the vet with us earlier this month. it needed to be less than 24 hours old, and the one I went to go pick up... was gone! [he went again the following morning, so we were okay on that front anyway.]

he doesn't do it all the time, and it's tricky to catch him at it because he also grazes and could just as easily be chewing on grass. the good news is, he eats those anti-poop-eating tablets right up! hopefully we can break him of this behavior very quickly!

we have had less success with our container garden this year. there are probably a number of factors that this relates to, but I'm sure having the dog smack into the tomato plants with his stuffed bear when he's running around the yard doesn't help.

did I mention that he ate a library book? or at least, he ate one corner of a library book. it was The Phantom Tollbooth, and clearly he chose that book because of the picture of a dog on the cover.

he's doing really, really well with his grooming. it still is very helpful to have both of us involved. David pets and distracts Randy while I grind his nails and brush his teeth. still, he's getting much more relaxed about both things a lot faster than Andy ever did.

he's mighty cute!
