little_carrot, I have just finished Terry Pratchett's Nation. and, yes, it is really good, so thanks for the recommend.
read it. sure, it's in the Young Adult section of the library, but it's really good. some of the imagery and description is quite startling, beautiful. the characters are delightful. the story, wonderful. I'm not a huge Pratchett fan, either.
[but don't let your kids read it. it's too subversive.]
