A sign of our completely visual culture...
Besides my core group of friends that read things, everyone else is just noticing that I write for Tiger Weekly. I've been writing at Baton Rouge's "beloved" weekly entertainment magazine since February, but people around me are telling me all of a sudden "hey, nice article!" and shit like that.
Why now?
The writers' mug shots are now on every article they write.
And I've only gotten comments on the articles with my picture. The couple of articles I've written without my picture? Nothing.
I can't decide if I like our pictures on the paper or not, but I now see it gets people to actually read the damn content if they recognize someone they know. Their picture. Not the name written in point 12 times new roman.
The written word is dying. And I've chosen to study it, and get a job with it in the future. How dumb am I... At least I'm learning photoshop at my job at Co-op. I will probably have to fall back on that later.
And school's good.
