TIP YOUR WAITORS/WAITRESSES, FUCKASSES. If you can't scrounge up at least 12% of a meal at a restaurant, just don't fucking go. Order take-out or something, cheap-ass. I don't think people understand that servers make $2.13 an hour. And they take tax out of that. And they take tax out of tips. I work at a small restaurant and we don't get too much business, so I know that I don't make as much as the average server, but last night I didn't get 12% from a single table. One table I ran around, working my ass off while kissing their asses, getting every little weird thing they asked for for an hour in a half. "Yes ma'am, sure thing, no problem, right away, be right back!" For what? 5 bucks. Their ticket? 40-something dollars. Don't do that to people. Especially if your server did a good job.
I've decided that being a server is pretty depressing. Any job where you have to wait on people just sucks and it's a nightmare. My heart goes out to all people who work in the service industry for a living, except management. Seriously, if you want to do something to help make the world a better place, just be polite to the people serving you. Don't give them a hard time because they are trying. Don't talk on your cell phone while they're serving you. If they're a little rude, hey, cool. Cut them some slack. Their job is a bitch! This goes for cashiers, drive through workers, hostesses, bus boys, cooks, delivery drivers... they are all people too. So please acknowledge their presence while they wait on you hand and foot, then clean up after your asses. They deserve some fucking respect.
*And if you ever EVER think that you are somehow better or smarter than someone because they messed something up, or because they're older and still working in a restaurant, please drive over to my house on Y.A. Tittle so I can punch you in the throat. You don't know that person's story, you don't know them at all.
Now sure there are exceptions. Sometimes people can be bitches and suck at customer service. But for the most part I stand by this message. The next time you're at a restaurant, just think about it.... $2.13 an hour. Minus taxes. Please help me restore my faith in humanity, because I'm losing it little by little with every shift.
