No, I'm not happy today. I've been thinking a lot lately about everything. Just  ( everything )

I'd agree that the world is full of negative things; natural disasters, disease, crime, etc. We can feel sympathy for those affected, but either we decide to make things like this our life, or we realize that if we get too upset at every sad story then we'll be sad forever. why not get happy every time you hear of something remotely happy? true, there arent exactly hurricanes of happiness, but there are other things I think.

I like this parable: some workers agreed to work a full day for their normal wage, but others started working almost at the end of the day. When each was paid, everyone got the same amount, and it made the people who worked all day upset, because they felt entitled to more, even though they got exactly what they agreed to. They felt cheated because of the other workers good fortune of the land owners kindness. The point is, that any time bad things happen, we tend to get upset because we feel that such a tragedy has hit us and that it 'sucks to be us'. What makes us feel entitled to more than being hit by hurricanes every other week? Even through the bad we should rejoice in the good, because we are still blessed to experience life. Be happy for others good fortune, but dont let bad fortune overshadow your true blessings.
